Ok I have just obtained a running 77 Scout II with the 345 v8 and Dana 44's all the way around. My questions since I have a 73 chevy 3/4 ton chassis just sitting around, Could I use the leafs off of that for a cheap lift? I was also thinking of using the 14 bolt rear that it has but I was told that the Diff rides really low. What are the plus and minus of a swap like that? Also the main purpose of this is a DD with the occational run in the mud. I will probably run 33's or 35's on it.

You can run cheby leaf springs on your scout, just remember to subtract 2 inches from the lift....means that a 4 inch cheby lift = 2 inches on your scout.

Install the 3/4 driveline and springs into the Scout.

Friday is the new Tuesday.

so with the stock 3/4 ton springs i won't get any lift? Other than the obvious of having a stronger rear axle, what are the other advantages? Disadvantages?

4" of lift, stronger springs, better axles.

Do it.

I don't think that 14b will be able to harness all the torque of a 345, but if you are bound and determined to use a 14b than flip it over, it won't hang so low and you will get a better driveshaft angle

DO NOT FORGET to switch the wheel cylinders back to their proper side or they will not work going forward, only reverse.

Well it's obvious that you've already pulled out your tape measure and verified that YES these springs are a direct bolt-on to the Scout II. So what are you waiting for? I recommend you pull the SII springs off first. :flipoff2:

LOOK, don't just use the 14 bolt. If you are going to take the time than do it right. If that '73 truck is a 4x4 than you should have the large hub dana 44 with the flat top knuckle. That dana 44 will roll right under your leaf springs and voila you are now sprung over and full width. The rear is easy just center it up and relocate the spring perches. Do not use the leafs out of that truck. All you want are the axles.:shaking:

Oh yeah, if you can drive worth a fuck then you shouldn't have any problems with the 14 bolt hanging up on things. But you will have to use biger tires..:shaking:

Why shouldn't I use the springs? The rears are a 7 pack, or 6 with overload. the bigger tires and breaks don't bother me because I will also do a rear disc conversion as well. Then I can run the Hummer rims :) Its not that I am set on the 14b I just know that it is stronger than what I have and I have the parts laying around so why not?

Yes the 14bolt is stronger and wider.

Do you have the front end that came out of that truck?

If you do than you also want to swap it out. If you don't your front end will be narrower than your rear end and it will be almost impossible to wheel because it won't track.

As for the springs, it will take alot of work for very little gain.

:)
