: Weekend Update 6/20 - 6/21
Blind Driver 06-21-2009, 11:48 AM Finally got my H1 wheels on. No spacers required :D
But I'll never be able to fit anything wider then a 12.50 tire.
I need to do the front D60 RH spring perch mod soon.
chris fresh 06-21-2009, 04:57 PM looks good blind,is that a SOA truck? or just springs and a body?
chris fresh 06-21-2009, 04:58 PM never mind, just saw the second pic with the SOA
war pony 06-21-2009, 05:59 PM looks good, Hope everyone had a good fathers day.
Urban Wheeler 06-21-2009, 08:06 PM Spent some time with the homebrew tig, went to the lake and got sunburnt.
Did 4 days of camping with a bunch of young men. Royal Rangers, simular to Boy scouts. No Scout related stuff.
rims and tires look good blind driver.:smokin:
JetFxr 06-21-2009, 11:59 PM Went to the Binder Bash, great folks, good food and humans that actually like Scouts:D I took the SSII for a spin on the slow race kinda cool took 25 min to go about two blocks. I had the fan controller bite the dust at about the 10 min mark and bent a push rod at the 230deg point but got the fan running and limped up the ramps for that deal, kinda cool maxed the ramp. Good food, brew, and lots of cool stories, perfect weekend will for sure be doing it next year.
Oh Yes got to smack Fleck around a little LOL
MochaMike 06-22-2009, 12:08 AM Went to the JY today & picked up 2 new (to me) heads for my SBC.
Hopefully they will solve my smoking issue so I can go to the FOTR work weekend this weekend.
SSGTWC 06-22-2009, 06:49 AM Finished getting the shop cleaned up, just so it can be filled next weekend. Finally going to bring my tools and trucks down from Phillipsburg. I just wish that didn't pick the hottest week of the year to do this move. :shaking:
Edit: Also picked a new addition to the family

Thanks Helmer

so do h1 rims just have a ton of backspacing or are those not full width? sorry for the newb questions, i just dont know much about 1 tons. I can see what you mean about the perch mod though, looks like its got a little bit of a lean to it.
uglyscout 06-22-2009, 08:06 AM Bent up a tube door for my Scout. It was my first bender project and it really showed. I f'ed up the 1st bend and then screwed up the 2nd bend... then the 3rd...
I may run it, or I my scrap it and call it a learning experience.
Moved the Scout in and out of the garage a few times.
Worked on the a few house projects.
Binder 06-22-2009, 09:05 AM About half of a local popular wheeling area was closed last friday so I went on a late Thursday run for the last time. Kinda sad but what's a guy to do? Didn't do any wheeling over the weekend but did scope out some potential new territory to check out soon.
RustoleumWhite 06-22-2009, 09:14 AM Withdrew a bunch of money from the bank and drove 2 hours with the family to look at a truck... came back empty handed.
Sunday was spent running some errands then everyone went down for naps and I had 2 hours in to clean some things up and build my second set of railing brackets for my deck (:bounce:). Just finished those up when we had to wake the kids up, toss them in the car and head to the inlaws for dinner (10 minutes away). Drove through a monsoon on the way (well, WA's version of a monsoon, its rained A LOT for about 5 minute). Sunny on the way home.
No IH stuff to speak of. Did get 40+ yards for fill dirt delivered to the house (finally), so that and finishing the deck railing are next on the priority lists!
BLK Scout 800 06-22-2009, 09:51 AM fished all weekend for a change :smokin:
Harvester of Sorrow 06-22-2009, 10:43 AM I didn't do shit again on the Scout last week...or this weekend other than get a couple of quotes...
Doubler
LTB 40's
If things go right I think I might pull the trigger on the 203/205 doubler...Looks to be a good deal...Thoughts????

Saturday night my band played a killer show.
Sunday was local hardware store, house work, garden work...RAIIIIIN.
My boys didn't call me for Father's Day. I had to call the cunt ex-wife around 8:00pm to get ahold of them...
crashhawk 06-22-2009, 11:16 AM Sat.-- Went down to Dothan shopping with the wife. Priced a new front fork for the mountain bike. ( My stock one wasn't made for 225lbs and decent air.:nuke:)
Sun.-- Studied all day for my "check ride" on Tuesday.
tsm1mt 06-22-2009, 11:36 AM Put almost 700 miles on the Scout.. averaged 11.7mpg towing my camper at 65mph.
Took 2nd place at the Binder Bash - or last, depending on how you look at it, with only 2 "Modified" Scout IIs in attendance - everyone else was either stock, or WILD or EXTREME modified.
I took the boring Scout with a 4" lift and halfway straight body. :)

sprout4two 06-22-2009, 11:37 AM Well if you call tossing parts on the hood of the scout to be installed later scout related that is what I did. Installed a fan in the living room on top of
10' of scaffold on Saturday, then worked on the wifes car on Sunday. Stupid mechanics overtorqued the lug nuts and I almost busted a nut getting them off.:mad3: Don't they know what torque sticks are?
okkool77 06-22-2009, 01:22 PM Not a damn thing got done on the scout this weekend, but I did get a whole day of fishing on Saturday up at Eagle Lake and Sunday was nothing but tearing down 3 acres of fenceline and getting the tractor stuck a half dozen times and almost rolling it. Tons of fun...

I'm going write up a little something this week for those that search at a later time.
Basically, I have H1 arms with crossover steering on a D60, new tie-rod and drag links with wheels and tires. H1s have 7" of backspacing. I might have 3/16" between my rod ends and tires, but it's enough.

yeah id be interested in reading that write-up. Might be a good way to keep a narrow(er) stance and get the awesomeness of the 1-tons. keep us updated. looks :smokin:
Tahcustomscout 06-22-2009, 04:18 PM I spent Friday pouring concrete for my shop, then spent the rest of the weekend with my kids. I have been trying to put down this concrete since November... Finally at least a little progress...

I guess I was asleep. Wow.... That is a pimp steering set up right there
Mechanos 06-23-2009, 07:36 AM Why in the hell would anyone take some shit-ass setup like that to a show?

Harvester of Sorrow 06-23-2009, 03:57 PM my weekend updates condensed into this post:
1. HOw the Scout sits right now.
2. Fuel cell that is going away...as well as the single back seat.
3. Radiator fan that I have been running for a couple of years now...
4. Back seat I picked up for the "family".
5. Oldest son and I finally painted a body for the crawler.

Was it trailered to the show, does it even turn the tires?
tsm1mt 06-23-2009, 05:12 PM Was it trailered to the show, does it even turn the tires?
I don't know much about it - I was drawn to it because I thought "Hey, a lifted pickup on Swampers.. kinda cool!"
Paint looks decent enough, so it caught my eye.
I then originally focused on the lack of front driveshaft and the pinion pointing downward and was a little disappointed.. the draglink didn't hit me until a little later. :D
At least it doesn't need more triangulation.

Now that you mention it.. I do have concerns about how well it would turn the tires at a dead stop - and particularly on the trail. The stock draglink is kinda dinky to begin with.
Skorch 06-23-2009, 09:05 PM Buddy's Scout on the Rubicon fathers day weekend.
 nice looking rig Skorch

no anchor bolts?
I now have brakes, I ran my fuel lines, plumbed my arb's, ran my auto tranny lines, and a few other odds n ends. Chipping away at my list..

I'm pretty sure it was driven to the show. I talked to the guy who owns its and he put it back together temporarily to get it there to show what had been done to it. It's suppose to be a one ton eventually 60/14 on 44" pitbulls. So far he's got 12" gm springs on it for now.

That would then explain why the pinion angle is poor and the driveshaft isn't in place - it isn't done!
So that's what 12" springs would look like...

Was planning on using hot glue and duct tape....:D
ChiScouter 06-24-2009, 11:13 AM I always like drilling the holes and putting in expansion bolts after the walls are up. When the concrete guys put them in they always seem to run into the studs, be in the wrong place, or on an angle. Then you have to drill big ass holes and always end up with the sawzall or BFH doing something
Mechanos 06-24-2009, 12:55 PM ...So that's what 12" springs would look like...
U mean U didn't know??? :flipoff2:
tsm1mt 06-24-2009, 01:12 PM U mean U didn't know??? :flipoff2:
Should've said "12 inch Chevy springs on an IH"..
Not that it matters much, I would've just cut the sh*t out of it - well, whatever is left after the rust has done it's job.
I didn't ask how many inches the lift was supposed to be.. most of the "12 inch Chevy" trucks I've seen are much taller and have chrome running boards to help you get in..
