Hows it going guys,

I need some steal rims 15X8 with 3.5in BS as everyone reccomends for ford d60 front axles with some caliper grinding. So I call everywhere and no 3.5in BS with the 8lug on 6.5 pattern, I ordered a custome set of us-70s form rock stomper 5-6 weeks and no rims!!

I called US wheels direct they said a lead time of 1day and said they could do it, and gave me a local sales AMPAC Tire, they called us wheels and said the us84 rock crawler dont have an 8lug pattern to build, and they said the us70 white spoke can only come in a 3.75 bs with the 8lug center becuase the 8lug center is thick. So now Us wheels says they cant make a 3.5in bs steal rim?!?

ok guys I want some little BS steal rims and am tired of all this supplier BS:D

Do you have any good contacts?

Could the 3.75s fit with the ford calipers? I dont have the front d60 yeat but are there any years that would or would not work with a 3.75BS 15in rim?

Where did you guys get your 15X8 on 8lugs 3.5in BS steal rims?

I was quoted $41-50 each shipped, but a quoted price hasent got me rims yet.

Give Rockstomper a chance - they got screwed by their US wheel distributor and have opened up another channel - give them a call and ask about lead time. I know they aren't deliberatly going to screw you, but I would bet they are about the only ones that can get your wheels with the bs and bolt pattern you want (I have yet to find or hear of anyone else).

Actually, the second channel is looking foggy at best too...
I've had parts on order, specifically stuff that I checked on being in-stock two weeks ago... and they called today to tell me that they'd just finished putting it on a pallet and they wanted to give me the weight (1400+ pounds). I said I didn't care what it weighed, that they were supposed to ship it COD and tell me what it cost and I'd have a check ready when it arrived (like I said when I placed the order)... but as of today, it was sitting on a loading dock in SoCal. F! For that much time, I coulda gone and picked it up myself!

Incidentally, this second channel... is the same company that supplies US Wheel--they supply shells and centers, not complete wheels. They also supply Allied, Unique (Cragar), and several others. I've got other sources on shells, but they're the only ones that have stamped centers (that're willing to sell them separately, anyway) and since the shell/center interface isn't a standardized thing, somebody else's shells may not fit their centers.

US has promised that the huge backorder (twelve sets, at last count) would be here this week... but they've been promising deliveries on that same backorder list for over a month now, and nothing's shown up in a while. At one point, my backorder list got lost. I'm about ready to try ordering custom US Wheels through Summit Racing, and see if US jumps when Summit says "jump", just to see. At least Summit's a big enough company that if US screws 'em, US'll be reminded of it. So far, I'm an ant pissing in the wind, from what I can tell.

Supposedly, Unique will do custom wheels (and Discount Tire can order them) with a 4 week leadtime... but I haven't seen any of those show up yet either. :(

Ashman, AMPAC sounds like they pulled the standard right outta the book. We're done with carrying the Daytona style center at all because it takes forever to get, and it's not as strong as the wagon wheel or tracker. I've got a single 8-lug 3" backspaced wagon wheel sitting in the showroom--I know they can do 3.5" 'cause we've physically had them in, in the past, but we've got a 3" (just one) right now, and anything from 2.25-3.5 would work with the same components this wheel was made out of.

3.5" backspacing probably won't clear Ford D60 calipers--3.75" will be worse.

Also, when US says they'll make something, it doesn't necessarily hold. We've got one customer who ordered 1.75" backspacing wheels a while back.
So the following all happened (no timeline to keep this brief)
US said no problem.
US said they'd been shipped.
They didn't show.
US said they were shipping this week.
They didn't show.
US said they were shipping this week.
They didn't show.
US said they couldn't make 1.75" backspacing in that setup, they could do 2.5".
Customer said OK, do it, ship 'em.
US said OK, shipped 'em.
2" backspacing showed up.
We called the customer; he said great, that's closer to what he wanted anyway.
We called to ask what the deal was with US not figuring out what they can or can't do... we can't get anything remotely resembling an answer.
We asked about the consistency thing... can't get an answer.

If anybody, anybody at all, knows a guy who knows a guy who has wheel shells and centers, I'm interested. Cost is not a significant factor at this point--if I can find shells and centers (I've called all over Colorado, California, Washington, etc. to try and find non-ag wheel components) I'll take whatever I can get.

I called bush hog they siad they never do 8lubs, its all race stuff...

I called stocktonwheel, said 5-6weeks lead time, Teh heavy duties are $145 each raw and the explorers are $95 each raw thats pretty pricy for a 5-6 week lead time. The heavy duties look nice but its not worth $145!!

I didnt call frankies yet, I dont want to call long distance form work, and didnt find a 1800 number for them. I might be able to call them Friday morning.

They only have the modular 10 hole for the 8lug pattern they siad they have the parts in stock and are $76 raw or black. SOUDS GOOD SO FAR. I was hoping to get soem for the $50 that rock stomper quoted but $76 might get it to my door. They quoted me a lead time of afw days so within a week with shipping, but Ive heard that before, at least they have the materials in stock!!!

thanks Yeller Blazer thats my best option yet.

3.5in BS I better be sure thats what I need, worst case Id grind too much and have to buy new calipers, I already have a set of spare F350 calipers in the garage.

How well do you guyd trust MRT's quoted lead time

IF you guys know a cheeper source then $76 keep the thread alive, Ill call around...

Edit: modular but not bead lock $76, $158 for 18 bolt beadlock shown and $216 for 36 bolt beadlock

They quoted me five days to build custom BS wheels....I had them in four. Very nice wheels, hell....i think it's worth the extra bucks not to have those gay ass little pinstripes on them :flipoff2:

what style what pattern what bs just for reference.

id get the bead locks but It would be more fun to weld my own 32 bolt bead locks form the rock stomper kit. I like the look of a thick 1/4in plate, though the mrt would be much lighter.

After talking with the MRT guys...I think all the leads on any custom setup are probably the same, as they have all of the stamped templates needed for whichever bolt pattern you would like. I've got a yota, so I got the 6 x 5.5 with a D-window pattern @ 2.5" BS. They're pretty slick.

Stockton :D thats funny! I just dealt with them and I would recommend everyone to stay away. Quoted 6 weeks.
They had material, then they didn't, then they did, then they didn't again, then they screwed up. then they were done, then they were only done with 3, then they.....

I think they have a list of different areas within their process on the wall and every time someone calls they just pick one.

Stay far far away.

Good luck...

Wheels are a pain in the ass. I got 8-lug US wagon wheels from Rockstomper. They happened to have a set of 3.75-inch BS in stock and I made them work. I run a Ford RC60 front with dual-piston calipers (1985 axle, smaller calipers). It works fine, but I did have to grind a fair amount on the caliper mounting bracket.
