Coming over Echo Summit down 50 headed west. Usually we go in at Ice House but it was recently suggested Wrights Lake Road. Is this route faster/shorter or less of an incline climb? Mile 39 is better than going all the way further down stream. Climbing from 50 up Ice House is a slow chore in my heep and once we crest the ridge, the temp guage is creeping up there. Especiually when way loaded up with gear. WLR looks a lot more windey, etc.

All suggestions appreciated!

On Wrights Lake Rd you do the climbing all at once so it levels out quicker.
Not sure if that is better for your rig or not, I prefer it.
The rd is narrow so beware of banzai down-hiller's, specially on the blind turns.
Turn left on Rd32, stay to the right and you'll pop out onto Ice House Rd across from the Big Hill turn off... just up from Ice House Resort.

The guys from South Tahoe (Hi-Lo's) always go Wright's Lake. They say it cuts 40 minutes off the trip. Make sure you know the way or it won't save you any time!

Yeah, from my cabin on Echo Summit I take Wright's Lake Road and it easily cuts 30 minutes off the trip to the 'Con. Follow rockalot's directions because it's easy to take a wrong turn if you haven't done this route before.
