Anyone have any pics of how it's done. Just going to do it on my blazer for added traction. Pics would be cool.

check out the tech section on coloradok5, they had a sweet way to do it that looked beefy and you didn't have to ruin your carrier, they did it to a 14bolt but I'm sure it can be applied to any axle

if you do a search on this board it was discussed that how they did it to that 14B on Coloradok5 was how NOT to weld a diff I do believe.

I welded the one in my Jimmy but didn't take pics.

I opened the diff and cleaned all the fluid out with brake cleaner. Then turned the carrier til one of the open sides were facing me and welded in the 4 corners where the spiders mesh. I did this in both openings and it held great..

I agree, do not expect that way to hold up for very long. I did the same thing to my cruiser and blew it out in just a few trips.

I will be welding my 12 bolt this weekend, and hopefully get some pics for you. :D

The one guy on Ck5 that originally did that or spread the word on how to weld it that way just pulled his out. It has lasted him 2 years and 25K miles!
