man, there are new rigs every week. i love other peoples money and time, lets us see lots of cool stuff without building it ourselves!
rujpn2 09-11-2002, 12:47 AM J.J. the pics are cool. Hope that Chad is able to get mine up on his server soon.
aaronlosey- It seems that ERoCC was the place to debute (sp) a new or majorly revamped rig. Roy Parcell had his new Sammy there (the pic you posted), Chris Durham ( congrats on the Series Championship) showed his new rig back in July, Shupe showed his new tube work on his rig at the June event (I believe it was that event). Lets not forget all the first time competitors that made major body changes through out the season (Spaceghost, lt1wrangler, RockYJ, to name a few). Sunday morning of the finals I did not see any rock rash on either Campbell's caddy or on Shaffer's rig. So I am guessing (with a good chance of being wrong) that this was maybe some of the first action these two might have seen since some major body work.
VERY nice pics ! Alost as good as ... j/k dude, excellent shots!

Oh, JJ, out of curiosity, what camera are you shooting?

Rear steer yes but from what I've heard this was the only competitor all year to walk up Battleship without spinning a tire.

Not to diss on the guy cause he did make it up pretty easy this past event but a lot of people have walked up it. Shupe and several others. That is if you mean the flat ROCKFACE on battleship. Now the whole thing, I dunno if anyone has been through there without spinning a tire.
I know the guy in that pic pointed out on battleship this past time at the very end and had to be winched out. But he did make everything before that look pretty easy.
hightechredneck 09-11-2002, 06:21 AM Any more pics of Rocky's roll?
CHOKEu 09-11-2002, 06:21 AM Looks like a great place to wheel!

Man, I wish I had more time to take some! But by the time I took that one it was all over. That's one of the main things that I don't like about my camera. It takes too long to store a pic and get ready to shoot the next one. It is a Sony DSC-P30, last year's model. It's been a great camera so far but slowly seems to be losing its ability to focus quickly. It used to focus in less than a second and now it takes a good second or two. And if I snap the pic before it's done focusing, it comes out blurry. I had a lot more pics that were just out of focus that were deleted. I think I'm going to take it back and see if I can get a little nicer one because I bought one of those extended warranties at Best Buy with it.

Plenty of people have walked that obstacle  Did you not hear that yet  Plenty of people have also heard that they have the biggest junk a given girl has EVER seen, does that make it true
I just pointed out a fact in my previous post, not slamming anybody. So :flipoff2: for getting all defensive when you weren't even there to watch :p

CMK was telling me at Poo Rock about cameras that take 20 picture bursts over a period of a few seconds. If you're serious about getting some great action shots this would seem like the route to go. I mean think of a 20 picture sequence over the 3-4 seconds of Rocky's (and others) rolls. That woulod be sweet, although I'm sure very expensive.
JeepinRottie 09-11-2002, 07:17 AM BUT.....didn't anyone take any of us???? Greg, please tell me you did.

nobody20 09-11-2002, 07:19 AM Great pics J.J.
Looking at Campbell's buggie from a structural engineering point of view it would be easy to collapse the front end of the cage. Structural the cage part isn't designed that well. Needs significantly less rake inorder to carry vertical loads.

I was thinking the same things but in NOT so technical terms:D:D:D

I got 3-4 of him in roll. However, unlike my brother, I have a 35mm. My rolls are at the grocery store getting developed. Plus then I have to scan them, yadda yadda. Ill try and get them up by tommorrow maybe.
At least some of the better ones. I even have 4 or 5 funny ones that will end up in Gen. Chit Chat.:D

Yep, Battleship and High Noon. Congratulations to you and Dennis. I hope the switch to the other side is as fun as you guys made it look. I will be there next year doing my part to help raise the Legends payout a little more. ;)

Great, now tell Chad to hurry up and get them on his server;) Your going to be competing next year? That's great, the more the merrier and richer pot:p
jeepinchad 09-11-2002, 09:58 AM Greg,
I got your photos in the mail yesterday... they will be up on my server this evening when I get home from Columbus.

Yeah, those cameras are expensive, but like everything, prices are going down on electronics all the time. The problem with the bursts is that the camera, to my knowledge, just focuses once at the beginning when you first press the button. The, after that, if what you are taking a pic of gets closer or further away, those pics in the burst come out blurred. RUJeeping2 and I were talking about that at the event. I think what I need is just a camera that focuses faster. I was doing great back when it would focus in less than a second. I snapped several pics of fast rolls back then. I think my camera is just getting fubar for some reason. This batch of pics turned out nice, but I found myself missing a lot of shots that I would have loved to get.

rujpn2 09-11-2002, 11:44 AM Jeepinchad, I look forward to viewing those pics when I get home tonight. ;)
Paytooyee-My camera is close to three years old. So I am sure that the newer ones will have improved on that. If you have a good camera shop nearby, go try them out and see which ones take the best burst mode pics. Heck, it could just be operator error. After all, it was not until the June event this year that I was finally able to figure out the continous shooting mode.
Also, take your camera in and have it cleaned. I am sure that the dusty environment that we use the cameras in does not help any.

To get into the 20 pic burst game, you're looking at about $1500 for just a body, let alone lenses.

If you are looking for Web quality pix why not just shoot Digi-Video then lift all the frames you want after?

patooyee 09-12-2002, 06:50 AM Great pics Greg! My favorites are the ones with Shupe in the dunk-tank! I wish I could have been there to see it. Who eventually put him in the drink?
J. J.
jeepinchad 09-12-2002, 07:10 AM Troy Myers put him in the drink... with a little assistance from an unknown source. ;)

rujpn2 09-12-2002, 09:30 AM The first person to dunk Ken was one of the ladies from Morley Baptist Church. You should have seen her excitement and Ken's look of suprise when he came out of the water. The whole day was cool. The competitors playing around on the little rock pile and the fun that was generated at the dunking booth.
Looking forward to next year.
rockdawgfj40 09-14-2002, 08:21 PM just wanted to say all the guys and gals at erocc did a great job all year:beer: thats for all your hard work.cant wait till next year.and hopfully i will be in the comp with all the pros that competed this year

I did that very thing and the pics I got out of it looked like they were at a seriously low resolution and the color was almost grayscale. My digital camera will hold 120 pics at 640 x 480 on an 8 meg card and the digi camcorder will only hold 60, everything else being the same.
Maybe I just got a (expensive) POS.:(

I bought my Canon Power Shot G2 for about $700 from Best Buy. It will do bursts AND take up to 2 minutes of video w/sound. Here's 5 pics that were burst at the UROC Vernal event:
http://www.uroc4x4.com/index.htm
There was actually a series of 13 for the burst. The pix were taken with the sun right behind the rig (in front of the camera) which is why they are somewhat washed out or poorly contrasted. But the other bursts I took with good lighting condition were awesome.
Kimber
GRIDWNC 09-14-2002, 09:44 PM Well it looks like you'll have to click on "Events" then click "Vernal" to get to that burst sequence at that link.
DOH!:flipoff2:

I have to admit I have both, so I don't mess to often with the Sony dig-cam for photo's (though mine hase both modes... video and stills). I mess with it some vs my still camera to see if it would even be worth doing.
