: Air shocks on an XJ? No more springs...

I was browsing the web tonight while looking for parts to fab up a long arm kit and came across these:

http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/Ballistic-Air-Shock_p_1565.html

Could you "basically" replace your coils and shocks with these? Cut coil bucket off at axle end and weld on a HD mount for these. Then cut top bucket off and weld in HD shock hoops to house upper mount? A lot more to it than that but am I on the right track?

How would you fill the shocks? Buy a nitrogen tank? Fill and set using a ramp to fine tune? How does ride height vs valving work with these?

Has anyone done this with a basically stock suspension? IE: Not a custom 3/4 link?

Could this be done to a DD?

Thanks!

The answer is pretty much yes to all your questions. However they are not really a direct replacement to coils. Some work and compromise will be needed
These are not new by any means and there's a 1000 threads covering all there is to know about them. A search will net you many results and even more opinions.
