: My FJ40 Build - Start to Finish pics...
Dimka 07-01-2009, 02:53 PM Hi guys,
While I've been poking around this forum for some time now, I haven't posted much. However, I thought I'd go ahead and throw up some pics of a recent build.
Before the bashing begins, this rig was really built for the 'Wife,' so more of a road princess than a hard core off-road rig. That's not to say this couldn't do extremelly well off road. For me, it's a great rig to piss off the neighbors coming home in the middle of the night.
Huge thanks to the guys at Landcruiser NW for all their help!!!
Below are pics that try to follow the build from start to finish (although these things are never really finished).
PS - I was go

HANGTOWNCRUZR 07-01-2009, 03:54 PM Nicely Done, I like the cage and the license plate

rockthedog 07-01-2009, 04:31 PM nice job....... what headlights are those ? are they the ones that have turn signals in them?
Okiyota 07-01-2009, 05:56 PM Looks good, maybe step back some more and get a side profile shot, i'd like to see the lines of the cage.
Specs?
DevilDogCruiser 07-01-2009, 07:45 PM Sweet rig! Where did you get the hood?
Dimka 07-01-2009, 10:12 PM nice job....... what headlights are those ? are they the ones that have turn signals in them?
The headlights are for a MK2 Jetta or GTI. The company that makes them is called FK, but you can find similar ones on ebay these days. You are right in that the turn signals are integrated...although once the HID's are on, they can't be seen.
Life's little trade-offs.
Dimka 07-01-2009, 10:15 PM The hood was made by Campbell Enterprises...I think they still make them if I am not wrong. The pain the ass though was cutting the body to match the raised fender lines and making the mini fenders. Here are a few pics...

RustyNailJustin 07-02-2009, 07:39 AM Yes Campbell ENT still makes these hoods.
Good looking 40.
dog walker 07-02-2009, 12:25 PM Nice, very unique. You can't wrong with McLovin!
Tastefully done. Love the license plate.
Motorsports2 07-02-2009, 06:51 PM Very clean and nice looking. I love to see restorations like this that have excellent craftsmanship plus have very nice upgrades, engine, seats, lights etc.. but still maintain the original overall spirit of the original vehicle. NICE JOB!!
Dimka 07-04-2009, 01:37 AM Thanks guys...here are some more pics of the build.

ChevotaSS 07-04-2009, 02:41 AM very nice ride
E WHEELER 07-04-2009, 07:00 AM That is a great looking rig. Did you put a heater/fan combo unit behind that custom console under the dash? If so, what was it?

There is a heater behind the center console that I bought at Summit Racing. They sell a Mojave heater that works extremelly well, and they also sell vents that you can mount in the dash. It's a great fit, cheap and you get rid of the fan and piping assembly.
TRoss 07-05-2009, 04:39 PM Nice, the 40 is awesome. That cage is cool too. Do you have finished side profile shot of it?
Thanks!!

I promise to take a few pics from the side this week and post. I know a few folks have wanted to see the cage angles from the side.
RustyNailJustin 07-06-2009, 07:46 AM Nice attention to detail. Where in Oregon are you. Pics indicate westside but where?
Rix86 07-06-2009, 09:46 AM Diggin the dash. Nice work.
Dimka 07-15-2009, 06:38 PM There were some requests of a side profile ... so here she be...

TRoss 07-17-2009, 08:30 AM Thanks! That's an interesting cage design.. I like it.
Arya Ebrahimi 07-17-2009, 10:25 AM Love the 40, but the rear cage design seems like it would smush down if you rolled it correctly. I know you said it's not a hardcore wheeler, but just seems like a weak design to me...
Other than that your attention to detail is incredible and the level of finish outstanding! Nice job!

I have given this a lot of thought (post design/build) and I would agree with you. Under the right hit, it seems like there isn't enough triangualtion twoards the rear...but I don't think it will ever be wheeled hard enough to roll...FAMOUS LAST WORDS!
I just got the 80 series to make it the more serious wheeling rig.

SWEET more hard core wagons :grinpimp:
