Geez, DSI, I'm really surprised to see a stock exhaust manifold, and heat shield on that beast. That's about 40 pounds of wasted cast iron. You gonna put a Calmini header on it?

Azrckcrawler
09-12-2002, 07:49 AM
From what I have heard, headers are a waste of time on the 1.6 16v.

i'm not actually sure that motor's gonna stay... so with that said i don't wanna drop any money into hop up's until it's proven itself...

i have 2 complete 22 R-TE's in my garage, both with bad crank's and rods, and i've got spare rods... i just don't want to drop the money on the turbo and a computer is why i went this route... if it doesn't fly well it's gonna get swapped :D

What motor is that anyways??? Specifically, what intake manifold is that?? I ask because the intake on my 1.6 16 valve looks nothing like that.

Mineīs out of a Swift, is there some sorta difference??

DSI

Looking at your tube work???

I do have a couple questions.... Is it really that hard to make stuff with a whole length of tube??? And do all the splices that you have in the frame make it stronger?? :flipoff2:

TNToy

DSI: We all know you've never particularly liked Boggers. My question is; why? I know they're not popular on the rocks because of the whole lack of lateral traction... but doesn't it rain a lot in WA? Boggers do kinda work in mud, so I'm just wondering what the deal is. Of course, all I ever see pics of your rigs on is rock, so I suppose that would explain it...

nope... all those splices are a piece that can be removed, re-made and replaced with no damage to any other area's we initially made it to run all zuk drivetrain and when the toy tranny/tcases setup was installed the nose had to be extended, so we took a few shot's and got what we want, now we'll re-maike that piece and there will be no splices :flipoff2:

TNToy/Dr Evil/Yota San

i have a seriosu personal dislike for the performance of bogger's in rock's mud, snow, dirt, gravel, air... yes i have run them, so i do know from personal experiance... i do not like them at all, my opinion, thank you for inquiring...

Bill, that intake manifold is pretty much standard issue for all NA spec 1600cc 16Vs.

also you said your's is from a car right bill?? mine's from an SUV, i'm going out ona limb here to say that maybe the front wheel/rear wheel drive has something to do with it since you're motor sat in the enguine compartment differently than mine...

Could be on the Swift (CDN spec got the 1600 16V).

My Esteem uses the same 1600 16V intake manifold shown in the pictures in this thread.

Hey, cut me some slack - I'm at "work" doing you a favour!

Here is the image of your "fugly ucker" intake manifold. It's a TBI setup, not multiport, right?

Yeah, itīs TBI. Thatīs likely the diff, then, huh?!?

Thanks for posting the pic, Moose!!!! Now quit fawking off and get back to work!!!!:flipoff2:

Are all NA spec 16 valvers multiport?!?! I guess I never paid attention to this "detail". What practical difference can I expect in performance?!?!?

BTW, thereīs no "u" in "favor", fawker!!!:flipoff2:

AFAIK, yes all 16Vs in NA are multipoint. Maybe some of the Swifts weren't, I dunno - not up on the low end Swifts. Maybe compare the hp/tq ratings? That would be the obvious difference...

As for "favour", I speak the Queen's English - it is you with the typo. So :flipoff2: back at you!
