: Tire Size
cumminchevy 07-02-2009, 09:30 AM Do any of ya'll know how big of a tire i can fit on an 09 chevy 3/4 ton d-max 4x4? Im not cutting the fenders.....:flipoff2: The truck has no lift and want to run 20 X 10 wheels. I may go to a 2-3 inch leveling kit on the front. so if you know either which way let me know.
onetoncv 07-02-2009, 09:55 AM hehe -Those trucks have a pretty decent fender to them right ? maybe a 33" tire -are you going to bump stop it ? Jess

Might have to crank the torsion bars
cumminchevy 07-02-2009, 11:10 AM the fenders are tall but not very wide i dont think ill be able to go much bigger. If i crank the torsion bars or get new keys for it i think i could find something comparible to a 285/75/16 but in a 20" rim
HAPPYJOHN 07-02-2009, 11:42 AM 305/55r20 Nitto Terra Grapplers are 33.0" tall,
and are recommended for 8.5" to 11" rims.
I'd watch the backspace on 10" wide rims, though.
even with leveling, they'll be close.
btw, 33" tires + 20" rims = street truck :D

hey at least its not 33" tires + 24" rims wich = n***** truck
BOB@TAGMOTORSPORTS 07-02-2009, 01:30 PM 265-75-r16 is the max overall with no trimming required... A 33" or 305 will still need trimming with a 2" or 3" kit even with a 8.5"-9" wide wheel... No matter what you do with the 10" wide wheel you will have to trim... Max i would rock a 9" wide with 5" backspace & that will get a close to factory as possible... Bob

That's not true. You can run 33s easy with no trimming or lift. I have a fiend that did 35s with just torsion keys. I would recommend 33s If no keys but the 35s would look alot better and you can fit them. It's gonna sit higher than a half ton.
Now a ten inch wide wheel is gonna rub but throw some spacers on it if need be. I would try to find a 20x9
Wild Hare 07-02-2009, 02:27 PM my 285/70/17's on 17x9's rub a little bit with a 2" front level kit.
dfl701 07-02-2009, 05:01 PM my 35s on my truck rubbed the frame but i didnt have spacers so i bet spacers would work.

"Work Truck" :flipoff2: will be hauling travel trailers and other equipment up and down oilfield lease roads ( sand, mud, gravel, washouts, washboard, hills)
245/75/16
Section Width: 9.65"
Overall Diameter: 30.47"
305/55/R20
Section Width: 12.01"
Overall Diameter: 33.21"
The black truck is about what I'm workin with. All three pics have leveling kits. Dont know what the exact tire or rim size. Rather than go w/ 20" wheels does anybody make a ten ply for an 18" wheel.

dfl701 07-10-2009, 08:05 AM if thats your work truck then thats one of the nicest work trucks i have seen haha. i wouldnt go with a 20 if your actually going to use the truck, if it was a street truck then sure
jrw7072009 07-11-2009, 11:38 PM Like stated you wont fit 33s with a level kit, even with a 6" and 35s you need to trim a little. We run a size or two taller then stock with level kits and 8 or 9wide wheel and about 4.5" of back space.

I dont believe this^^ I want to see pics.
I lift tons Chevys and GMCs and its hard to run a 35s on a 6" lift with out at least trimming the bumper.

B.S.
265/75 is it without any rub.
285/75 needs a little trim for no rub.
dfl701 07-12-2009, 07:25 PM Idk how yall do things but 33s and trimming is bs. 35s you have to trim the valence and it fits no problem. Now if you want to run a 10 inch wide rim them no but I can dig
up pics to prove it. There's also a truck on cardomain with 36s. There's proof if you want to search. You will need a lift for flexing but I never said one word about off roading I said a street truck.
Found it. Page 2.

Look I am not going to argue but you said you can easily run 33"s on a stock Chevy with out trimming thats BS I lift Chevy's and GMCs weekly and was lifting them almost daily I have lifted and done level kits on many Chevy's and GMCs normally with 8 or 9 wide wheels and tires to match and we have to trim if the truck if you want it to turn or go though dips in driveways with out ripping off the valance, mashing up the fender liner or tearing off the fender flare.
On Newer Chevy's & GMCs
Level kits= a size or two bigger
4" lift= about 33s
6" lift= about 35s
8" lift= about 37s
9" lift= about 38.5
The truck I see on page two is lifted and it either has or is getting a body lift too so that shows you he is rubbing, I guarantee it.

That's great that you lift trucks but I'm telling you from personal experience and the proof right there. I personally know a guy that ran 35s on a stock 1500 and no rubbing or trimming except the bottom valence just a bit. Here's a truck with 36s so there's no need to argue when you have visual proof. You have your opinion and I have mine. I agree if your going to use
the truck off road you should lift it but when the truck only sees the street and some dirt roads it will work!
randy92782 07-14-2009, 11:15 AM These new trucks must have alot more clearance than i give them credit for. My friend has a 6" lift on his '03 1500 and his 33's rub his valance if he hits a bump too hard and turning

he must have some wide 33s because you can fit 33s stock
randy92782 07-14-2009, 04:04 PM 33 12.50's on 16x9? wheels. They may be 10" wide wheels but i don't think so

That truck is a couple generations old, and had significantly more tire clearance than the modern trucks do. What you're trying to argue is no more valid than a Chevy vs. Ford tire fitment comparison. :shaking:
dfl701 07-15-2009, 03:37 PM I have also seen it done on the new body style but dont have pictures. I was just using that as a visual thank you
