If it is a problem - you over-tightened your axle nut(s).
Edit - my front 60 isn't in my junk yet and the only other truck I have is a toy - and it's hubs getting really hot is a bad thing. They will get "warm" but not super hot. Sorry I can't help anymore than that.

Drive it on the highway for while and coast to a stop. If the hubs are still real hot you overtightened the the bearing retainer nut. If they are just warm or slightly hot your ok. Do this on a cooler day.

I have done that and with the 4x4 warn hubs locked OUT the hubs don't get hot at all .........But if I lock the hubs in thay get verry HOT:confused: ....would this still be the bearings to tight???.....I could understand if the hubs got hot all the time .......but thay don't ........just when I lock the hubs in
Thanks for all the help!!!!!!!!

Thanks for making that clear. You may need to replace the bearings inside the spinle or at least add some grease. I never pay much attention to those cause my front driveline is always buried in mud and rarley sees anything over 30-40mph. Even then only for short periods of time. Try to keep the hubs unlocked unless you need 4wd. Saves lots of wear and maintainence. Other wise dont worry about it.

I just had the whole front end apart and repacked the bearings.......and when I say I lock the hubs and run around town I'm only talking about 25 to 35 MPH.......Check the hubs after about a mile and they are hotter than hell:confused:

I just had the whole front end apart and repacked the bearings If you remove the spindle fron the knuckle there are bearings which prevent the stub shaft from rubbing inside of the spindle and help align stub shaft splines in the locking hub. Did you check those? If that aint the reason then you got me stumped. Only time my hubs got hot was the first time i replaced bearings. The old ones were so shot they fell apart so I didnt know how they went on. Being the dumbass I am I put the new outer bearing on backwords. The hub was so hot skin from my hand stuck the the hub and pulled off when I removed my hand from it. Doesnt sound olike you have that problem though. Besides the inner bearings I am lost for ideas. Goodluck.

I think your locknut is too tight - did you torque it or just guess?
