: ProRocks comes thru!?
landusepbb 09-11-2002, 12:03 PM As most of you know the Rock Garden near Aztec, NM was left a total mess after the first women's comp there a while back. Our club and the BLM spent mucho hours cleaning up the mess, and we let Bob know about it. Well, last nite our club pres. informed me he had gotten a check for a couple hundred bucks from Bob for our cleaning up the Garden. Maybe last week's blasting is starting to get thru to Bob Hazel?!
elf_cruiser 09-11-2002, 12:18 PM that's good to know!
gunracer1 09-11-2002, 12:30 PM this is just bob trying to do some damage control. he is ponying up because he needs the support real bad. i will never support him again unless the payouts get way better. mike

HAHAHA!!!
bigdude 09-11-2002, 01:23 PM Could you do a rough estimate of man hours put in to clean up the mess?
My point is say it took 10 people 8 hours of decent work. That's equivalent to about 20 people doing real world work for 8 hours. Either way if you pay them $7/hr it's over $500. A couple hundred to have someone clean up the trash from a complete event seems a little low to me. Definitely damage control IMO.
Couple hundred? I would send the check back to him...
Bigburlynakedguy 09-11-2002, 02:10 PM Send it back with a :flipoff: and tell him to fawk off pirate style.

While I will agree that it's surely just "damage control" since it was given AFTER the fact, I'd be hesitant to assign $/hour rates to the host club of any event. I pay our local club $1,000 to help me with a 1-day mud race. For that, they supply all the workers to tech the trucks, register the trucks, score the race, and bring their timing lights (which we sometimes run over). If you checked the $ per hour rate, it'd probably be less than 1/4th what any of the members make at their day jobs. And this is taking place on a weekend. But, the fact is that were I to pay them say $30 or even $20 per man-hour, there's no way we could afford to put on the event.
At any rate, it's a tough place to be. You need to give the clubs SOMETHING, but if you start paying by the hour, it quickly becomes too expensive for these events to even exist.

Cash the check and donate it to trailkeepers. ;)
cmk
jeeper111 09-11-2002, 09:09 PM too little, too late. Cash the check and give it to trail keepers. That way they can use it to help undo what he has done. HAHAHA:flipoff2:
MattS 09-11-2002, 10:19 PM Couple hundred huh? Wow. Almost an insult I would say. Kinda like doing a days work and your boss says "thanks for all your hard work, here's $10 get yourself a nice dinner on your way home"
Like bigdude said, how many people? How much time? I just want to know if he's making minimum wage for these people.
He had better clean up his act. I have one of the last shirts from the Disney event. I want to put on E-bay and make a mint. Any pre E-bay bidders? It's like new and an XL. Sorry bigdude, it's gray not pink. :flipoff2:
Take 35$ and start bobsucksrocks.com or bobisintherough.com to bash him...
Then donate whats left to the organization of your choice....
:flipoff2: getting trails closed bad:flipoff2:

landusepbb 09-12-2002, 08:20 PM OK, right now I'm sitting in the Best Western in Cedar City getting ready for the ProRocks event this weekend, we'll see how it goes and then I'll give my current opinion of Bob.:D BTW, I'm gonna suggest we give the $200 to the SWFWDA Land Action Fund, we are in major need of money to fight the eco-nazis in the suit in Las Cruces.
