Hell guys..My name is CJ and I am new to the forums..I have searched and searched this site and google to try and find the proper pin placement for the gauge cluster plug-in that goes into my 1973 k20 pickup..There are a total of 18 little plugs and I have a few figured out but I really want to be sure..Plus I have a pink wire with a white stripe that I have no clue what it is for..lol..It goes to a plug that is flat, black and has four spades for hook up..The wires coming out of it are two blacks and one solid pink and the pink and white wire...My gauge cluster is a 1973 with gauges and mechanical oil gauge...I also have tach, water, fuel, and ammeter..If someone has the proper wiring diagram it would be helpful as I said before I cannot find it anywhere...Or if they just have the plug and circuit board diagram that would be awesome..Sorry to ramble so much..just trying to give ya'll the proper info the first time..thanks in advance!

they sell books at most autoparts stores that have wiring diagrams in them and the answers you are looking for for about $12.

wow..I really thought this board was gonna be different..as you all know the haynes manual is lacking in almost all aspects, especially wiring...chilton is a lil' bit better but still not specific and by no means are they $12..mebbe where you live but here they are $25 and up...But just so you are comfortable i own both of them...I was looking for specific info and was hoping I could pick someones experienced brain...But as usual someone just makes a smart ass answer cus they think they dont stink or cus they are on a t"yer new" and I dont like you power trip..cool..I will not bother this board again..Have a great day and 4th of july!!:flipoff2:

you have a printed circuit on the back of your factory cluster. trace the wires to the guages, connect the ground and that pink and white wire is your tach. There should be a place behind the tach to connect the plug.

Or search painless performance and look it up on their gm 18 circuit sheet.

Dont be a pussy and whine because you asked a question and were given a smart ass answer. Thats what this place is all about. :flipoff2:

I'm sorry if I hurt your delicate online sensabilities...

if you want me to come over and wire it up for you, feel free to holler...

I'll bring my tools and my wire and my connectors and mobile shade to throw up over your truck while I'm under it, and I'll even bring my cooler of beer and a chair for you to sit and drink while you watch me work on your truck...

damn dude. fucking really? I mean REALLY?

While they are lacking in some sense, I've had good results actually sitting and looking at the diagrams in the back of the books for longer than 30 seconds... the answers are there if you'll friggin study for them instead of wanting a cookie and a handout.

I think you are correct... the guy has the information at his fingertips, so it should not be our fault that he is illiterate with wiring diagrams.

To the original poster (aka OP for the newb), the answer that Flatline gave was not smartass at all.

In fact, it was quite helpful, because that would have been the answer that I would have given you. The wiring diagrams in the back of those books have served me well in the 15 years that I have been wrenching on various vehicles. 95% of the time, those diagrams work.

Now, quite being a fucking cry baby and apologize for your asshat behavior, or go away. First impressions mean alot, and this place is no exception.
