2ND that. We are planning our semi-annual October Moab run also. That is when we usually go other than EJS. We haven't set the dates in stone yet, but in the past it has always been during the day light savings time change.

Jon, at the last Zombiefest, there was quite a few Scouts there. You may want to visit the next one.

I would love to run it with you, and its on my list to do, but won't be out to run it till the first week in August. We are coming out for RMIHR 7/31-8/3 and then gonna make our way South and West and run trails for the rest of the week and next weekend. Any chance any of you guys would be around then to show us the hot spots. We were out about 10 years ago and spent more time trying to find the trails than actually on the trail. So local wheelers would be great. Thanks

Did this trip happen? How was the wheelin?

Well the trip was on its way till my scout was running a little warmer then usual running up the mountain passes. I ended up blowing my upper radiator hose going through eisenhower tunnel. After coasting into Silverthorn and waiting an hour for the car quest store to open up, I found that my t-stat had failed in the shut position. I was able to get a new hose on and a new t-stat in but by that time it was to late in the morning to hit the trail. My dad and I decided to hit another trail that was close called bilmore lake. But holy cross still is on my list for this year, just had bad luck.

Were you running by yourselves (meaning just one rig)? Holy Cross is not that super duper extreme, but it does get kinda hairy in some spots on the upper portion (close to French Creek and beyond). I personally would not want to run it with just one rig. It's a loooooooooong way back to anywhere if you needed to go for help of any kind. The biggest problem with running HC with a group of people is lack of a staging area for those who trailer their junk in.

we're having our last zombiefest out at the farm on July 25 & 26. It'd be awesome to see you guys out there!

I was running by myself to the trail head were I was meeting some other rigs. I have done the trail a few times before with no problems. But I do agree about running on your own. I think the next time I do plan to go out I will pull my tent trailer out there. I have done the trail before in one day, but it did make it a very long day.

I ran it a few years ago with guy from Auroa. I was on my way back home from the 'con & Moab. Kent met me at my hotel in Frisco and we hopped over the pass to HC. Ran the trail up and down that day and then hopped back over the pass to Frisco where Kent ended up crashing in my hotel room as was already a pretty long day. Then he just blasted home in the morning and headed out to visit in my bro in Denver on my way back to Missouri.

I'm going to have to plan another one of those marathon 3 week wheeling tours.... 4200 miles round trip, way too much $$$ for hotels (I can avoid that now that I'm packing my camper with me) but the fun could not be topped. Best vacation I ever took.

That would be a smokin time, to do a long few weeks of wheelin. I just try and get up since i work on saturdays, but I do have Sun, Mon and Tues off. It is hard to get people to wheel with you on those kind of days. But my trip will be in September for Moab.

That sucks.

Good to hear that your dad is back out on the trail though. I remember a few years back he had that bad crash on the way to Moab I think it was.

well he was riding with me, his eye sight is still not up to par to estimate depth when on the trail. I am working on building him another one, that is almost done just needs some t-case mods and drivtrain upgrades. we still are debating what to do with his old scout.

Yea, right! I have NEVER seen you wheel.:p I'll be out wheeling tomorrow with our crew. :flipoff2:

Jon, I know we will get to running Holy Cross, Chinaman's/Carnage Gulch and Penrose. Don't know when exactly, but soon. We will run Penrose probably on a Friday to avoid the crowd. The easier stuff we wheel the H3 on.

I would wheel the Black SSII, but It needs new front shafts and I don't feel like working on it. I have a winter rebuild planned for it.
