Since I opted for the 1991 with the 3FE......what gearing should I run?
I can get 4.88s or 5.29s....question is...how crazy would that be on the highway?
I have a 3 or 4 inch over stock lift on it already, running 265/75/16s for now (will be putting 285s on it once these wear out).
will 4.88s or 5.29s make highway driving unrealistic?
I did the tlca.org chart for gearing at it seems like in 4 High I can get to 75ish at ~3000rpms with 265s....anyone mess with this stuff yet?
Everyone that mentions 80s on the trail and "never going back" is right....damnit!!! hehe.

Definately go with the 5.29's with the 3FE.
I think that is an awesome trail rig, all you need is that FI 3F and Low Range.
Go Low, you will actually like it on road as well as off.

Current plan:
- 5.29s
- armor (bumper, nerfs, rear, and t-case)
- part time 4WD kit
- winch
- ARBs front and rear
should be fun! =)
HA!! My piggy I have for sale is on your picture site hehe.
I am the first 3 pictures on the stolen pics from Morgan.
Thanks for the input.

Save your $$ on the part-time 4wd kit and put it toward a 3:1 kit for the transfer case :D

Who sells the 3:1? I would do that in a second over the part time 4WD.
I think the 3:1 you have to pull the center diff anyways...so it would be the best of both kits....and make a SICK ratio for low and still use stock gearing for "high"....then I can have 4H and 4 WAY DAMN LOW with 5.29s hehehehe.'
*edit*
I just ran the numbers....4L would be ~3-6mph from 2K-3K rpm....which means with the auto it would be a very nice ride indeed. wowza! hehe
*edit*
If you know of a kit for the 3:1 for a 91 FJ80 (A440F) t-case you may have made my day.

I was under the impression that Marks sold that kit...check their Oz website.

I emailed Mark's directly to see what they have available.
Their site might not be up to date as it only lists 1990 as the newest gearing available.
Will update here as I find out more.
Thanks!
