: 4th of July weekend update 2009
I just got back from a 2 week vacation to visit the wifes relatives. Had a good time see a lot of different places in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada.
stopped in Moab for lunch and a visited to arches national park. I figured we would be driving in 110 degree weather the whole trip, but was surprised with an afternoon shower everyday. Not often you see a green desert. My son is big into rockets, and this place lets you get out there touch stuff. But of course he had to tell me the Saturn 5 rocket he saw Alabama is much bigger.
Scout related. I started trying to figure where I let off on my tranny transfer case install. Here part, there a part every where a part. :homer: rounded up all the hardware and misc stuff and got it mocked up in place and working on the brake setup.
Binder 07-06-2009, 02:01 PM I wheeled .....Sunday only.
Old Scout 07-06-2009, 02:04 PM Wheeled the disco on Saturday.
BLK Scout 800 07-06-2009, 02:34 PM Wheeled the Rubicon for three days and it was a blast! I got to party with the pirates and enjoy the show as the initiated there three newest members. Blindfolded runs through the box while people scream at you and throw rocks at your rig = good times :flipoff2:

Shadow man 07-06-2009, 07:24 PM Drove up to Cook City Montana to stick the H3 in the snow. The Goose Lake Trail was a Bitch! There was some guys I met on that trail from The Magic City 4x4 club out of Billings. They ended up turning around too. Still too much snow up there. Even the 4x4 ATVs were winching and pulling each other out. The one billion Skeeters there were also Very hungry!

Diesel Smoke 07-06-2009, 08:06 PM Worked 8p-8a all 3 days. I didn't even see one single firework.
Mechanos 07-06-2009, 09:39 PM Cleaned out part of the garage, drank some brew with GF and friends, blew shit up, watched others blow up even more shit, helped a "sometimes slightly distracted" friend pump 25+/- gallons of gasoline out of his CTD.
reuben 07-06-2009, 10:29 PM worked on my scout sat, hung out with the family sat, and went out of a friends boat sunday. Good times

Y'know JetFxr isn't too far from there and has himself mixed up with the Magic City crew these days..
Blew stuff up. Started a fire in my field that I put out. Had an early birthday party for my oldest who hits 3 this week.. got another party this coming weekend, too - this one for her friends from daycare.
Two good IH related items - I got half of the shop cleaned in preparation for the party on the 4th, so that's big progress.
Part of that was getting the racer's new block up on the stand.

Oh yeah, and I finally moved the GN I bought a year ago out of the way of the shop for the festivities, too - so I drove the Travelette a little, too.
I have a quote of $4700 to pour 40+x20' slab to give me an approach to the shop - so I can wheel the hoist and welder and other stuff outside once in a while, and I won't have to mow my driveway as often.
Then there was a big storm and a tornado (they say) today.. and some items blew in from Billings.

Still haven't cleared the hood off on the trail Scout enough to put brake fluid in and bleed the rear discs.. just need to bleed 'em, fill various things that have been busy marking that corner of the shop for far too long, and throw the tires back on and I can go for a spin.
Weekend before, hitched the Scout up to the camper and took my family camping, brought my niece along, and she got to play radio-dork for Field Day, while I spent the weekend being dad and chasing kids.

BLK Scout 800 07-07-2009, 02:46 AM Who were they? Got pics?
All of them as far as I knew...? Maniac mike, welder boy, dave and like 20 or so more pirates. The guys that were "newbies" I'm not sure of I know one guy they called radio but I have never met him or the other two before.
Here ya go crap cel phone video YouTube - 070409 115800 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iInuBlt8wTU)
uglyscout 07-07-2009, 08:05 AM Went to Central Minnesota for a surprise b-day party for my father in-law. Spent 3 days on the lake. Ate too much mid-west, make-you-fat, here you go sweetie have another scoop, food - man I could go for a salad today.
Did zero Scout work, heck I don't think I saw an IH light line the whole trip.
Next weekend doesn't look much better.
Tahcustomscout 07-07-2009, 11:19 AM Did the fireworks thing with the kids, along with school clothes shopping. Then on Monday took all the angle iron for my shop build over to my work shop and punched out all the screw holes on the iron worker.

Is that the one at the first rest area on 65 south out of TN? Maybe 6 or 7 years ago they didn't have a fence around it and you could walk underneath it. Pretty cool to be that close to a rocket.
Urban Wheeler 07-07-2009, 12:10 PM Friday I didn't get the message that the bike shop had my brake parts until after they closed.I knew that I wouldn't get them until Tuesday, so that put a big stopper on my bike project. I did get the wiring done on that, went for a spin anyway and lost my speedo cable since I neglected o hook it back up. Bummer since it was new this year.
Found out my dad's tumor is back and he will be on chemo indefinetly. Found out his brother has colon cancer. Add to that the fact that both my grandparents died of lung cancer and I now have a history of cancer in the family. Bad times all around.
Saturday I wasn't planning it, but I went to the lake with my brother. My dad was up there, and we figured it might be his last 4th. Dad was his normal annoying pain in the butt self.
Sun I did nothing really, just didn't feel like doing anything.
Monday I cleaned the garage and found my new speedo cable. Turns out the one I lost was the old broken one, for whatever reason I never threw it out.
SSGTWC 07-07-2009, 04:58 PM Started to get my shop somewhat organized. Benches are up, tool box in place, and welders not exactly where I want them though. Once I get my Mother's stuff out of the way then I'll post pics. Anybody know anyone who might be interested in knitting machine stuff? In a couple of weeks, I'll have shit load of yarn to go with it all.
sorry to hear about your bad luck lately man. I hope things get better for you...
ChiScouter 07-09-2009, 08:23 PM Matt sorry to hear about your dad.
I built a new frame:flipoff2: http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=802577
Buck Dodson 07-09-2009, 09:48 PM You know you're a redneck when...
You build your Dad's casket

Dad wanted a plain pine military box and the units available were shitty plywood boxes, so the entire family made this on in one of the most amazing times I've ever been involved in. A good time was had by all (in the lighter moments)

A damn fine bitchin' job. I could only hope to be interned in such a fine piece of family craftsmanship.

That one is in New Mexico. Being the goof ball dad I'm checking out the bitchen welding job they did. While he explains the ins and out of the dfferent rockets.
Harvester of Sorrow 07-10-2009, 11:13 AM I know that it is Friday...but I have been busy...:shaking:
pic 1: I have been getting more wheeling out of this rig...MINI HOS :grinpimp:
pic 2: I played in an annual 3 on 3 tournament the weekend previous.
pic 3: I guess I am going wheeling next weekend in Naches for a day trip...so I didn't have time to send my box off for rebuild.
pic 4: No wonder the thing leaked and would barely flow fluid...the seals were/are flatter than shit.
I am tapping the box while it is apart for a later hydro-assist mod. I just needed to keep it from leaking fluid everywhere for the trip next weekend.
I probably won't even have head-lights and such for the trip as they are half torn out of the harness.
Harvester of Sorrow 07-10-2009, 11:16 AM Ohhh and this is the look I got when I told her I was going wheeling::::

WTF???? have a little trouble getting the end cap retaining "ring" out. Looks more like a pig's tail now.
Oh, and don't forget to keep your balls separated and alternate them when you stick them back in.

Yes dude...that thing would fucking NOT come out...that was the hardest part about the teardown :shaking:. I was sweating like a fucking retired pornstar after wrestling with that thing.
There sure isn't much color difference between the balls...

No there isn't.... try putting them under several different kinds of light (flourescent, incandescent, sun light, etc.) and you should be able find a source shows the color difference well enough to sort them.

When I rebuilt mine the flourescent over the work bench showed the color pretty good.
