I will be working on the cross member this weekend so it can be a 4wd again and not a 2wd slunt. Let me know what you guys thing of it or if you have any question I can answer them.
A big thanks to Cody for all the work that he has put in on the Tacoma.
boost_aholic97 07-08-2009, 06:49 AM im jealous! i like the way it looks, just maybe a little lower, but for the most part, it looks good!
zidaro 07-08-2009, 07:06 AM Nice build starting!!
How much exhaust rerouting was required to install the Lefty? Any weird interferences? Hows the stock width axle feel under there?
I'm replacing a blown 3rz right now and then will be preparing for a R151 with duals/SAS. '96 extracab.
Keep it comin', subscribed!

That's not a Lefty, its a regular old righty.
And how in the world can you "feel" an axle width without getting to the tipping point?

I was hoping that the front springs would sag a little I bought the 44044's new and I have read that it will settle a inch or two once the springs are broken in and have some trail time.

You sir are right I have coined that word and very soon all the little kids in the world will be using it. It is also what you start calling your Toyota when the parts you just bought are the wrong ones and you can't get your truck put back together so you can drive it to work, that has happen a few different times.

Erikb is correct my cases are standard passenger side out put cases. http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/rr149/Tan84toy/IMG_1079.jpg
In the picture you can see the stock cross member has to be notched to let the front drive line to move with the suspension it also looks like the cat might have to be cut off and re-welded in vertical not a real big deal in the big picture of things.
The 84 front end is not bad with the wheel 1.5" spacers it is almost the same width as the Tacoma rear end. I was going to but Sky Manufacturing widening kit to get the rest of the width need.
AttemptingTJ 07-08-2009, 04:24 PM Ya know whats funny. Toyota will still buy that thing back when the frame does rot out.
I just got off the phone today with yota, they are giving me $8872.50 for my 98 thats identical to yours (not the big lift and stuff) I just de-lifted it today and chopped the cat out :D

My bad Erik,
I knew it was a standardright drop mini case, just typed out wrong, sorry for confusing you.
I can "feel" how my truck handles everytime I drive it and long before I roll it. Figured a guy as worldly as yourself could "feel" how your rig handles. Narrow/Wide should feel a bit different in how it tracks and turns street or trail. Just thought I'd ask.
BTW- thanks Slunt for the actual feedback/answer.
THESOFTTACO 07-08-2009, 06:31 PM that thing looks good man! lower itt tho!!!!!! nice start to a rockin truck!
ROKYOAT 07-08-2009, 07:35 PM nice build... I think I have seen it a couple times driving down 65 between lincohn and yuba city. looks good.
Tan84Toy 07-08-2009, 08:31 PM No problem Zidaro the truck feels real stable no death wobble or anything. It is my daily driver and it is about 40 miles round trip from Olivehurst to Lincoln were I work very reliable vehicle if you ask me it is a Toyota.
THESOFTTACO I guess I might have to take a leaf out of the front springs lol I think it would look better if it was lower a bit we will see what happens.
ROKYOAT the Tacoma does go down the 65 a lot I try to wave to other Toyota owners I see on the way to work or swerve at them if I was working night shift.
:D:flipoff2::D
AttemptingTJ Thats crazy I did not think they would buy it back if you have sas'ed it.
Tan84Toy 10-13-2009, 08:48 PM Well I got a little update I took some time off of work for a vacation that turned a new paint job project :D here are some pictures.

It is not that bad I might say for $60 bucks in rattle cans and $30 in beer. The color is Krylon Khaki but it does not look that tan more green. Let me know what you guys think.
