well im thinkin about goin with the dana 60 front kingpin and a dana 70 rear. ihave found help with lookin for the right axles but no one is really able to anwser my questions. cause i want full width and i wanna swap my t case out for a dana 300 but everything i have read says its a passenger side output for the front and my cherokee is driver side. i jus needa know if my choices for the front and rear will match up some what close without having to chop and screw some things any suggestions?

If you wanna stay driver side, you should go late 70's ford. and if you wanna save money, look for FF 14 bolt rears, got mine for $75. The money's gonna be in the 60 up front. It's possible to change urs to pass drop front axle, guys on here have done it. Just use the search, and look around. I'm in the same boat as you, just getting started. I just perused this site for a couple months, figured out what the best way to go 1 tons was, sourced my axles through Craigslist, and now I'm amassing parts. Actually just ordered everything to buildup the 14 bolt, so i'll actually be getting started as soon as that arrives. Good luck, and if you plan on staying on this site, search before you ask, and also think before you ask; some of these guys are ruthless :)

right well ill do some research and if they wanna get ruthless i have no problem with it... i grew up with people that have experience bash on people that are learning and they remember bein bashed on starting out its life. but i will look into the late 70's ford and see what i can do to keep it driver im a student at wyotech so im tryin to do it cheap and quick before winter comes ha ha

You need to pic a tire size, then pick your gearing.:flipoff2:
What trans, Auto or manual? You need at least 4:1 in the d300 for a rock crawler, youll want more if you have a manual.

Search Crawl ratio.

poor babies are going to be killed because of this. cheap/quick dont go together, if you havent figured out your gear ration, and final numbers yet id work on that first, and if youve never used a 4link calc you might want to play with one first.

just because you own a welder, torch, grinder, doesnt mean you "should" be fabricating. ive seen alot of guys from UTI, WYOTECH that could run a bead of superglue in a straight line. good luck to you and i hope you prove me wrong.

:shaking: You have no idea. To give examples looks for these build threads: Ashman, Goat, Vette, Pipehitter, Brassmunky, Okie Terry, Timmay, and others. Look carefully at there threads and PAY attention. These guys an myself are all one one tons and bigger rubber. We've done the in and outs in several diffrent unigue ways....but its HIGHLY unlikely you can pull off anything we havent seen yet...Like Ash said, you dont have a clue.

If you intend to setup something impressive, you better learn link suspensions damn fast, and be one hell of an excellent fabricator.
