Well I've been finding little issues here and there on my new toy.
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g303/FOCUS_ST/bronco%20II/IMAG0213.jpg
First project was to replace the front axle. Junk is an understatement. First found one hub that was gutted. Pretty much every bearing was shot. Which come to find zero diff. fluid and shavings up the wazoo. And to top it off after pulling the axle we found a dime size hole in the diff case. Axle was replaced with the front out of my 89'. Also just picked up new hubs and they will be going on soon.

Second project was to find a matching tire running 33x12.5x15. Have 3 of 4 that are good. Trying to find one Goodyear MTR is like finding a needle in a hay stack. Don't make the old style any more and just about everyone does not have them in stock any more. Let alone at a decent price. Some places are still selling the bastards for 350-400 each! Found one new for 200 shipped, done deal!

Third project to be done this weekend is to replace, more like add. A missing shackle on the driver side rear leaf spring. It's well missing :annoyed:

And while I'm under the 89' pulling the shackle. The whole rear end is coming out and taking a trip over to my cousins to get welded up. Till I can find some decent axles to re gear and lockup.

Your replaced a Dana28 for another Dana28? why? Thats like Tantric masterbating alot of work with no benefit. Get ready for lots of broken U joints and everything else. While your working on the truck remove that god awfull step rail and the other side as well if there is one.
yeah you could have gotten a dana 35 out of an exploder I believe, still not great but would have at least been better then that 28 piece of shit.

OK, so far this is not a build thread.
Replacing a pos axle with an equal pos axle doesn't count, -10 points.
Posting a pic of a ghey truck without build or after pics, -10 points.
Posting pics of an even more ghey donor truck without labeling it 'ghey donor truck', -10 points.
Posting details about searching for a 33" tire, -10 points. :shaking:
Posting really bad pic of alledgely missing shackle and detailing replacing it with a stock shackle, -10 points.
Detailing plans to replace stock axle with a stock axle, -10 points.
Pics of build vehicle with granny steps and no torch nearby -5 points.
So you are starting 65 points in the hole. You really need to make up for this fast by posting pics of your truck under the knife with sparks flying, piles of worthless crap you've pulled off of it and good shots of you wheelin it. Also you need to ask for suggestions on what year Dana 60 to put under it, whose doubler is best and ask if you should use a Dana 70U or 14 bolt in the rear.

Your right! But Rome wasn't built in a day.
Only get to work on the truck on the weekends. So this is going to be a slow build.
Yes, I replaced a worthless ttb axle for another ttb axle. Manly cause I had one and the other was completely shot. So in she went other wise it'd be sitting for a while.
Today we did make a little progress and found a few more hack jobs from the previous owner. And sorry no pics, did not have my camera with me. We did get the shackle swaped in. She sits level for a change.
After that we decided to clear a path to the back of my property. So that we can get my truck and trailer down there. Friend cut down the trees and I pulled them away with the BII. Worked great! Then we decided to tackle one of my hills. Where last year we cut up a box elders and left the 3'-4' chunks around 10"-12" in diameter lay on the ground. Went up, down side way's on those moving logs and had only one problem. That stupid step has to go ASAP!!! That was the only thing holding me up.
And I was surprised to find that I had no lack of traction. Previous owner told me he had a locker in the back and did not believe him. I do now. That rear end never once acted as a one wheel wonder. I was also surprised that the front axle. Supposedly stock out of my other BII. It spun both tires also with no hesitation. Spun all four tires crawling up the hill and over logs with ease.
But after that we decided to take a trip down the road to see how she behaved. And she died as we were about to turn around. Thought we were out of gas. Not it. Noticed the fuel pump was not working. (note: previous owner hard wired the fuel pump and the electric fan to switches on the dash) Traced back through all his rats nest of wiring. And we figured it out. Fuel pump works so we took it for another drive down the road to my uncles feild drive way. It would not start. Starter spined for a while but we soon got the notorious Click, Click. Soilenoid went out! So we had to bum a ride back home and get my truck. To pull start the turd.
Got her back home and there it sits. Next project will be to sort out. Will be to straighten out all the wiring on the truck!

The soilenoid went out and you had to catch a ride? What you didnt have a screwdriver in the cab? If the starter was spinnin I doubt the solenoid went bad anyway..

Yep, we did try jumping the solenoid and nothing. No spark, nata! To day we chased the problem down to the starter. Pulled it out and attached a batt. charger to it and nothing. So some time this week I'll stop and grab a new starter and slap in there. In the next few weeks I will be sorting out all electrical issues this beast has.
I need a fix for my electric fan. The kid wired in and electric fan from something. To a switch on the dash to turn it on and off. I'd like to throw a thermostatic switch or control in it. Really don't want the fan to run 24/7 or overheat cause i forgot to turn it on. I have found a kit for wiring up a electric fan that turns on and off by temp readings. But is there and easier, cheaper way of hooking this fan up properly?
