I have heard that a Toyota mini-truck 2wd pitman arm will fit the Celica box. The following measurements were taken with a caliper in between the spines. The top side of the pitman arm splined hole is 1.060 inches and the bottom side splined hole is 1.057 inches. Does anyone have a mini-truck pitman arm off and would care to measure the diameter of the hole with a caliper? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

that kinda looks like a 2wd pickup arm. All the celica arms I've seen have had the ball joint part of the pitman arm. But to answer your question yes a 2wd pickup arm will fit on a celica box.

Do You happen to know which years? Does the 2wd arm have more drop?

Thank you for the help..

Our Celica box shaft measures 1.65 top spline engagement and 1.35 - 1.30 bottom. 42 splines. In theory you could go as lage as 1.80 but then I dont think you'd have enough room to ever use a pitman arm puller to remove it once installed.

A Geo Tracker arm will mount to a Celica box, so you have aftermarket options for a drop arm.

Sorry zuk I just got your pm. The 2wd arm prolly doesn't have any more drop than the one you have. Although I do know that the 2wd arm is about 1/2" or a little more shorter than a celica arm.

Back in the day I had Brent at TT make me a custom drop pitman that would fit on my celica box but I think I sold it a couple of years ago. I'll look and see if I still have it but I wouldn't count on it.

Wow, this is great information. So I can use a tracker drop pitman arm on a Celica box!!! That is fantastic!!!! Thanks a million for the replies...

No!!! I had a "custom" drop pitman made. Brent took my celica arm, cut the end off with the splines, put it in a lathe to get it prefectly round, drilled out the drop pitman to press in the splined slug that he made from my stock arm and welded it up.

Ok. The custom pitman arm is my back-up plan. However, UrbanRockCrawler is saying that a tracker pitman arm will fit the Celica box.

Now I have measured my Celica steering box output shaft at the point the pitman arm stops on the output shaft and I keep coming up with 1.065 to 1.070 inches. Are there two different Celica boxes or did UrbanRock omit the zero. I have been know to do that myself. I did double check my shaft with my old dial calipers and my new digital calipers.

I really appreciate all of the information that I am receiving on this topic.

you really don't want to do that.

Ok. The custom pitman arm is my back-up plan. However,

mitsubishi or dodge mini truck is the one you want to use. reason for changing is to get the arm with the tapered socket instead of the balll joint, which it looks like you already have, and to match the samurai pitman arm's length for proper arc.

i had hell trying to match a TRE to the arm, though. got an 11/16-18 SAE tap for my link, i can go get the p/n of the joint with the correct taper to fit that arm if you'd like.

Thanks for catching that, I did leave out the zero. Should read 1.065 and 1.030

A trackick pitman arm WILL NOT FIT THE CELICA BOX. I run the box on 4 rigs. Have heard the urban legen on the trackick arm. it won't fit. If I remember correctly the splines are way small or as what some would say fine. As the toy are course. As far as I know there are no drop pitman arms offered for the celica box. Rocky Road ( I know bad taste in mouth) Sells a modified celica arm to accept the zuk ball joint. But it's not a drop.

to add more arm info...

I've got an arm thats a 2" drop with a Yota taper.

Measures 1.235 and 1.175

believe I got from marlin a few years ago. From his site.

Crossover steering pitman arm allows the use of FJ80 tie rod ends on 1986 - 1995 IFS style steering box. Bolts directly onto IFS box.

Sorry guys, I got swamped with business stuff. 1madzuk, do you have any pictures of your modified pitman arm?

I have had people tell me to have a competent welder cut and weld the arm. I have to say I just don't like that idea. I can't see how a weld can be as strong as the forged steel in the arm.

Thank you to everyone for the input. This is great! :)

If I cut the pitman arm and weld it I think adding steel reinforcement on all sides would be smart. I would avoid welding to the splined end. The top and bottom would consist of 3/16" plate to keep the profile slim. the sides would have three rows of 1/4" round bar stock to tie both ends and the top and bottom together. The eye will be filled and re-drilled to take a Jeep tie rod end that matches the Dana axels.. http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc193/driead/CelicaPitmanArmsideviewmodified.jpg
What are your thoughts? Thanks, Zuk
