Let us know what you think of it when you get it. I am interested in these kits, but have decided to make my own because of cost. The RRO cost isn't bad though.

How does that kit attach. Does it use the brake caliper bolts, integral king pin, and/or king pin bolts?

IMHO, the caliper bolts are the way to go. If you add an integral king pin even better. Using the whimpy king pin bolts though is asking for big trouble (unless they are combined with the other two).

The ASS-300 (what a name eh  ) looks like a nice system. I found one-half of a heigher heights arm (cast) last year at the Little Sluice. It had snapped in two  . Hopefully these systems do better than that. With billet steel they ought to, but the connections will be everything.

Yeah that steering arm chunk was SCARY!

BTW I ordered some steel caster shims from RRO and I told the dude on the phone ...

Me: "If you %$#@ say you have em that means you have have em right?"

RRO:"Yep."

Me : "Because you #$%^& always SAY you have em, but you don't and then I will wait and wait and you $%^& will charge my card and never send the shit. You clowns have burned about everyone I know, but your the only place that has these in 3 degrees"

RRO: "No we REALLY have em, I'm looking at them in my hand"

Me:Alright I'll order them but if they don't show by Friday I'm getting in my car and riving to Utah, because I'M GONNA BE PISSED"

RRO: "They'll go out today" (the famous RRO promise)

I ordered them, but asumed it would be a while. One day later they were at the house...maybe they have gotten the message....

I just looked at the rockroad kit. THERE IS NO WAY THAT IT CAN BE SAFE FOR THE ROAD! wheeuuu, I feel better. I looks good, but the ackerman (spelling) does not look right. The stock location on the knuckle is in a certain spot to cause the inside tire to turn sharper cuz it travels a smaller diameter circle. The way it looks in the picture the outside tire will turn sharper!

Dychen
09-12-2002, 11:26 PM
me and roksammy where talking about this just resently. Once you go high steer, you can throw that ackerman (however its spelled) out the window. From what i understand, no matter what kit you use, once you go high steer both tires will turn the same distance, period.

No problem. Once I get home and unpack all of my junk I'm gonna take some pics and post my thoughts on the steering, pan hard, and suspension. And of course over the instalation period i'll be posting up dates. Two to three more weeks and I'll be able to give some input. Finally!!!! :D

Amazing how many people I talk to when I've had employees answering our phones for the last 4 or 5 years.

If any of my employees state something that is not the case, I'd really appreciate timely feedback on it. I can't make changes for the better without constructive feedback and I can't know what is said on calls when I've got 3 full-time guys working the phones all day everyday.

====================

Bob & Bill.... act your age for chrissakes. You got a problem with me, bring it to me direct. This hiding-behind-the-keyboard crap on a bulletin board, making feeble little jibes, and cowering behind your middle finger 'smilies' makes you guys look like a joke.

Glenn dude,
For one, I was working off of Scw's post. I have no beef with you. I don't really, Your a cool Guy..............in person.

2nd I just want you to know that the one order I got from you, I had it when I got back from deployment, and I don't remember the shipping date so I can't say that it was shipped in a week or a month. So to me it was on time:p
3rd I hope I look like a joke! LOL because this board in cheap entertainment for me, and I'm not hiding, I'm poor and my zuk is going through a phase:( And when I get it up and running I'm sure I'll bump into you again, and then the soda's are on me.

Sorry for the grief. Just sick of lame dudes trying to bring down our company for no reason other than that it might look "cool".

We're trying to do good shit by building a company, creating jobs, making new stuff for Zuks, etc. Seems like some guys would be happy if our dozen employees and their families they support lost their jobs.
Real "cool" thing to do in today's economy eh?

Anyway.... public apology, Bill. Didn't catch that it was a joke.

:crybaby: glenn, it looks as if your actually trying to make changes for the better... but coming on here and pouting about peoples opinnions is sure as hell not helping your image. no one wants to make people lose their jobs but feedback is something everyone wants hear. if you perform then you won't have to fire anyone. ;) this is the first positive feedback i've heard about RRO in a loooooong time. you'd think you would be happy about that.

Glenn ,Bob here if you change I am sure that fact will get around too.I didn't get you the rep,you did that yourself. All I did was add creadence to what was said. You have a long trail, only you can correct the wrong . I have found you to be a nice guy in person, not in business. You started out good, then droped the ball.I have to say I do remember when you did it right........what happened?????????????..:D

Since you are not getting many answers to your specific questions about Andy's Samurai Steering and this product is fairly new on the market, I will give you a few specifics. The kit comes with 2 steel pieces - none of the parts are welded - which attach to each knuckle at 3 points - 2 bolts at the caliper bracket and one bolt at the original mounting hole of the tie rod. These pieces provide new mounting points for the tie rod which are now ABOVE the spring. It comes with a new tie rod and drag link made from 1" .250 wall tubing and can be used with Suzuki or Toyota steering boxes. This system eliminates the need for a Z-Link, places both the tie rod and the drag link high above harms way , it is a very heavy duty system and it provides very good driving characteristics. It does require drilling 2 holes and the drill bit is included with the kit.

I gotta agree with poppycock and bobaki.

I also appologize for keeping this thread open longer, but I e-mailed RRO last week with some questions about one of the suspension kits they sell and have yet to get a response. And, I even included a picture of Glenn's x-90 I took at SOR.

I think Glenn is a great guy, and a pleasure to meet on the trail. But if your phone calls and e-mails aren't answered, or take 2 weeks for a response, then maybe you should find better help to answer your phones and e-mails

Glenn, please don't take offense to this, none is intended. Hopefully this info will be helpfull in identifying continuing problems and help in making your business a smoother operation.

You can check out our installation of the A.S.S. kit on iZook.com

Andy's Samurai Steering (http://www.izook.com/tech/techprojveh/grayghost/grayghost.htm)

This is partof a project buildup, so you will find it about halfway down the page. It got everything up and out of the way of the rocks. Took about an hour to install. Worked well on the trails in Las Cruces, later in the article shows some of the trail action. The vehicle is using power steering and 33's.

Still looks like a weak link at the front Caliper bolt, to dam thin. I have a kit on our test sami that use's the caliper bolts and the kingpin, much like the Breeze setup, but even more beefy.
The only Andy's kit I have seen was a early weld together design..
Problem is, many people don't know the difference and when one kit is $100 cheaper than a well built kit, guess which gets bought.
One thing I see a lot of is sharp edge's...our Toyota arms are rounded, everywhere to relieve stress risers, Our dana arms are the same, and our sami arms will continue the trend, after testing.
I know one thing I have started to see a lot of is the sami ends breaking out of the ball joint, I have done it, and a few guys on the Con this last weekend had as well. Something bigger is coming, because size does matter....
