: Bronco II Swaps

Working on a new project. Picked up a POS Bronco II for next to nothing. Looks like a 7" sky jacker lift, Redneck Choptop, Decent 33" Big O's, Welded Front and rear.

The idea is a CHEAP trailable rig that my younger Brother(13) can wheel and work on with me.

The 2.9 is ticking like mad, and spitting oil out of the Valve Cover Gaskets. :flipoff2: That motor! Bought a 95 4.0 out of an exploder with 50k on it. Bought the ECU opff of Ebay....Now I need the wiring! I was hoping for a complete donor car for this swap, but I got the motor and ECU for WAY too cheap, especially for the mileage. So If anyones got an old 4.0 Exploder or ranger lying around....let me know,m Pick N Pull is getting very proud of their crap.

Plans:
4.0 swap - started
D35 - Ford 8.8 Exploder swap.
Possibly a ranger single cab and flat bed if I still like it with the new motor.

Any other ideas kidies??

As this is not going to really be my rig, trying to keep it VERY affordable, but nothing is outta the question.

Screw the 35 and find a 44/9" combo from an early bronco. It'll end up SASed anyways, might as well do it to start.

The 2.9 probably have a cracked head, not a blown gasket. But since your putting the 4.0 in anyways, doesn't really matter. Look at therangerstation.com for some real indepth work with them.

Nothing wrong with the sploder axles for a start, very little fab work and they are a big upgrade, better yet if you find the 4.10s with ls or weld it. Those little u-joints in the eb d44 break pretty easy and usually take the stub with them, parts are more $ than junk yard d35ttb stuff.

Who said anything about a blown head gasket? OP said his valve cover gaskets leak.

if you are gonna swap to a pick up cab why not just start with a early 90's ranger with the 4.0 and then i believe it would already have the dana 35/8.8 you plan on swaping in? it seems alot less work
