I'm a newb to Pirate 4x4, I'm hoping you guys can help me out. I'm purchasing a 1995 Bronco Full Size Eddie Bauer Edition on Friday. It has 133,000 miles, minor rust on the rockers, fenders, and rear quarters. It is coming with the parts to replace the rusted areas. It's a 351, but I don't know if its a 351w, 351c, or 351m. Could anyone tell me what it is? Or help me to identify. Either way its an auto transmission leather interior, and the only mechanical problem is the rear window doesn't go up, but it goes down. Is this a good buy for $2300?

I was also looking around for a suspension lift between 10 and 12 inches. I want to fit 40 inch tires, and I'm unable to find a suspension lift bigger than 8 inches. Does anyone have any advice? Know where I can get one, or will I have to build my own. Also, what brand is best? I hear Skyjacker or Superlift.

What size axles should I run, I was thinking Dana 60's, with what gearing? I have no idea. And will these axles affect the lift in any way shape or form?

Sorry for all the questions, I just need some help and have a lot to consider. I hope you guys can help me out. Thanks!

So to recap
-Is this a good buy?
-What kind of motor is it, or how can I tell?
-Where can I buy/make a big lift, and what brand?
-What axles and gear ratio

1. depends
2. 351w, if it's a mass motor, it's roller cam equipped. if not, then roller ready block.
3. don't know
4. don't know

1. Seems to be
2. 351W
3. Dont. The front suspension won't take it. IF you want 40's, you need more money and a Solid front axle.
4. 60's and 5.38
5. Fawkin SEARCH! there have been 50 build ups on FSB. Check out Fullsizebronco.com too.

at least he waited till tuesday.

to fit 40's on the truck and not break it youre gunna need $10 grand and skill. or $5 grand and friends with skill and free parts. or $20 grand with no skill required.

nothing you can bolt on will work. nothing with TTB in the name will work. nothing with factory gears will work.

Really? I thought from '94 on they were all roller cam? I didn't think MAF or SD had anything to do with it

mass air = roller
SD = non roller, but after late 94 the blocks were a roller style, just missing a few things

1) Sure, seems OK
2) 351W (Windsor)
3) Lift will be custom since you are installing different axles. Ask around for a good local 4x4 shop that can build you a suspension system
4) D60 in the front and 14 bolt in the back with 4.88 gears

don't get a 14 bolt. you NEED the speed sensor in the rear end for your transition to work at all. get a sterling 10.25. arguably just as strong and will already have the right leaf spring pad spacing. o and the sensor you need. then a little calibration and the speedo even works again.

As far as I know you are correct, I've had a few apart in my 20 years with Ford. I even just checked the service manual online for a 95' 5.8 and it lists roller lifters for the 5.0L and 5.8L in F and E series, the Lightning did have a flat tappet cam.

Is everything stock? If so, then maybe :flipoff2: !

351W

To fit 40's, you're going to need lots of cash, some fab skills, and patience.

Sterling 10.25 rear, Driver side Dana 60 front; 5.13 or 5.38

They were metric, which made some internal engine parts pricey. Mine's speed density, and the original block was a roller block. '94 was the screwball year.
