I have a 4.2 258 with a 4.0 head on it and a Offenhauser Intake and Ford HEI Ignition. There are 2 holes on the Valve cover, one at the back and one at the front. When I got the motor the holes in the valve cover were just open. The only vacuum lines I have right now are one from the Ford HEI dist to the port on the carb for the dist. and another hose for the brake booster going into the Offenhauser intake. Thats it.

I was having problems with oil coming out the holes in the top of the valve cover so I put a plug in the back one and a PVC valve in the front one with no hoses hooked up to the valve. I know this is not the way it should be.

Should I put a line from one port of the PCV valve to get filtered air and the other port to a vac fitting on the carb???

I am still trying to get this thing running right.

Thanks for the help. So there is no valve or anything just hoses coming off?

They both have plugs in them. The rear is a metered air hole for vacuum and the front is an inlet for fresh air.
