I have the box in front of me, all four ports are 3/4 inch strait thread, and i am guessing that i need to use o ring type fittings on the orbital valve,
Before i order up anything i just want to check with someone to make sure that is the right thing.

Ian, yes you will need the o-ring straight type fittings. Depending on your hose routing you may want 2 tall and 2 short fittings to clear each other when installing. My Char-Lyn used #8 straight fittings and I used 90* fittings and had to use tall and short due to the close grouping of the ports. :D

What about using JIC fittings?

I think he needs o-ring to J.I.C. adapters (37 deg.) flare, probably 1/2" o-ring X 3/8" JIC.
btw...JIC stands for "joint industry council" ...I bet 90 % of the guys selling the stuff don't know that one, ...that tidbit is good for a substantial discount if used properly. ;)

Common hydraulic fittings are:
NPT (National Pipe Thread) - tapered thread
ORB (O Ring Boss) - O ring seals against a machined seat in port
JIC (37* flare) - flare seats against opposite flare in port.
I guess you need ORB or JIC, and you should be able to tell by seeing if the ports have the opposite flare or machined O ring seat

You can also tell by,
3/4" JIC is 12 TPI
3/4" ORB is 16 TPI

What NO BSPP???? It's very common!

DanFoss valves in the size that you would be using on a wheeler have 3/4"-16tpi O-ring ports.

Thanks guys i am on top of that one,
One more though
What size line do most people run, I am going to make the box match the ram with 3/8 npt, but shoud i run 3/8 hose, or is that too big?

ian -10 or -12 to feed the pump , -8 is what i use on all the rest of the hydraulic system .if you are using a lower volume & pressure pump you may want to use -6 from your orbit to the ram , but use -8 from the pump to the orbit and -8 for your return line .
take your orbit to the local hydraulic supply and they will hook you up with what you need .
btw jic comes in 37 degree and 45 degree taper seal
i like to use reusable ends so trail repair is made easy and you dont need to have someone crimp the fittings .
the only downside is the reuseable ends cost a little more

I have no idea what I'm talking about, really!!
I'm just quoting from a catologue in a vain atempt to sound more knoweldgable than I really am :flipoff2:
That, and maybe to see if Dirtrod will jump all over me, he's been way to quiet lately .....and I'm left feeling all out of sorts! ;)
