so i got a good deal on a set of 42/ 16.5 rockers ... ive heard that not many people make a bead lock for the 16.5 wheel because of a bead issue . but i see weld on kits .. is it worth it ? or should i find a set of 15's ?
Get a set of H1 wheels from 406YJ here on the boar and you will have 16.5" double beadlocks that will bolt right up to 1 ton axles!!

Yea get h1s or do the weld on beadlock. But the h1s would be better

yeah im just worried about the h1 rims not being wide enough .... does anybody have weld on bead locks on this board ? ive heard they tend to blow beads still ...

I ran stock width H1's with 18.5" wide 44" TSLs without an issue, if not I believe you can have them widened as well. Lots of people run the H1's stock width on 1 ton gear to narrow them up a bit or recenter for other bolt patterns. You will not find a cheaper/more reliable DOUBLE beadlock than the H1's IMHO.

Inner bead on 16.5s still suck. I run 49x21 Iroks on hummers, and they work great. I wouldn't bother with a 16.5 unless you where running a double. Ifyou don't like those rims, sellyour tires and buy something else in a 17" or whatever and so weldons.

Get some round stock bent up to fit inside the lip of the inner rim, weld it in. Then get some plates for the outers.
Mine are working great so far

sorry to hi jack this thread but...I bought a set of 16" DIY beadlocks welded them on my 16.5's but I am having issues with them "coning" and leaking around the 3/8" bolts?? tried using a B-40 belt wich is 5/8" thick to help clamping force on the tire and to prevent "cone" on the outer ring but had no luck? I also have used the black bead sealer on the back side of the rim?all is g-8 hdware & tried to center up everything, torqued the bolts to 10 then 20 ft.lbs?also used the star pattern? can some one try and help me figure this out?I bought the 16.5's to fit a set of tires that I got a smokin deal on and I have 8 lug 1-ton sus. so they help clear a bit?

I had no problem out of my 16.5 wheels with kores beadlock kit on them. My dad is running 44x1950 rockers on stock 8 bolt h1's with no problems. I would not be afraid of 16.5 wheels.
