: that fawk'n bronco lean?
bent70 09-12-2002, 06:33 PM I have a bad lean to the drivers side. This is normally due to the stock radius arms and bushings, but I don't have stock arms.
I have a 3-link with heims. Now the driverside is 1" lower than the passenger side. With the coils out they measure the same also with the rear leaves. Coil buckets, coil cups and brakets on the axle are all the same.
I have always had the lean when it had stock suspension and when I converted it leaveled out, but still an inch off.
After pulling it out of the garage today the dam thing was real crooked. Probably from how it was sitting. Now it's a little better but like said before an inch off.
What do you think?
Springs worn out, just the driverside?
they are wh3.5 crawlers
tommybronco 09-12-2002, 06:39 PM Some days when i get home i look out at the Brako and it looks like shit, it is layed way over. Well for me my problem was i would come tearig into the parking lot and park it well the spool bind would be bad enough to just keep the body lean. Don't know if this is your problem though.
bent70 09-12-2002, 07:34 PM diffs are empty front and back for now.
Im not stressing that much. It's probably due to sitting for 8months on and off. Last time it's actually flexed a spring was lat winter:( . Maybe thats the problem.
smurfsdad 09-12-2002, 09:03 PM Are you taking it to a car show in the park or something. So what if it leans. Not to be facesious but why worry about it. By the way mine leans but it depends on which side the ice chest is on.
bent70 09-12-2002, 10:23 PM Well with the fresh dipped chrome acsents and the chemeleon paint about to go on-- yes I think it matters.:flipoff2:
I guess I'll have to roll it a couple times on the passenger side if I can. Besides I don't want change my username. :D
Paul Gagnon 09-12-2002, 11:50 PM Here's a cheap and easy way to fix the lean.
Turn your wheels to the left when you park. :flipoff2:
IronBenderII 09-13-2002, 09:01 AM It drives me crazy as well.
Bent, let's see some pics of your 3 link in very quick order...
People say that it's because of the radius arm bushings, but I think their full of shiet. It's always on the drivers side so I thought it had to do with the track bar. I know people that have switched the springs, the bushings, the radius arms, the works. And it always leans on the drivers side.
I was going to put heim's in to see if that stopped whatever bind kept it leaning. But if you have a 3 link maybe we need to look again!
Hurry up with the pics damn it!
-Jack
welndmn 09-13-2002, 09:56 AM Yeah, lets see some pics of the links
have you checked and made sure its the suspension leaning? not a bad or bent body mount?
If you think the coil is sagged, take em out, and swap em driver to passenger, if your a fat ass (like myself) and have an AUX tank you really heavy on that driverside
FearMe 09-13-2002, 10:30 AM There is a write-up on how to cure the "Bronco lean" at www.broncofix.com

after work.
Plus the upper on the pass. side has been taken out for a true 3-link setup. less bind too.
dumplin 09-13-2002, 02:06 PM My Shit leans the same way , but I'm a wide body ! Even unloaded minus myself it still has the gangsta lean . Oh well piss on it as it's a trail beater to have fun in ! My .02 worth , :flipoff2:

IronBenderII 09-13-2002, 06:37 PM Oh, okay. I thought you did a traditional 3-link up front. i was stoked as I couldn't figure out how to do that.
Anyway, I still think it has to do with the track bar somehow... Disconnect it and drive it around for a while and tell me if you still notice the lean. :D
There is no cure...

smurfsdad 09-13-2002, 07:05 PM Ahhh, but there is a cure, Hydraulics then you can really be :grinpimp: at the car shows.
IronBenderII 09-13-2002, 07:14 PM Okay, getting off topic here, but what the hell...
How cool would it be to use hydro for forced articulation (and reverse articulation). Pull up next to a jeep, lift a rear tire, and have it setup so your wiper fluid came out under the tire.
That would "piss some people off". I may do it just so I can...

Jerry74explorer 09-13-2002, 11:16 PM hey bent,
check your body mounts on the drivers side, my 74 leans that way due to a crushed piece of channel where the body mount connects under the brake pedel. this is why i don't jump the levee anymore ;)
Albino Man 09-14-2002, 12:24 AM Do you run an auxillary tank? Mine always had that problem too, and when I had to ditch the tank on the drivers side, it went away due to loss of weight.
bent70 09-14-2002, 03:09 PM hydros now that would be the shit.:flipoff2:
It could be the auxillery tank, I put it in right before I took it out of the garage. Although it's pretty close to empty. Right now its better and I kind of lost intrest in the lean anyways cause I care about getting it running more than looks.
smurfsdad 09-14-2002, 06:52 PM [QUOTE]. Right now its better and I kind of lost intrest in the lean anyways cause I care about getting it running more than looks.
Now your talking some sense.
bent70 09-14-2002, 07:02 PM yep,
started installing the 60 gears today now I feel like I am finally getting done.:D
BuckNBronco 09-20-2002, 06:16 PM more than likely your bushing on yoru control arm is not in right and it makes it do funky things on the driver side mine did the same thing and i took out my bushings and reset them and one had been turned so give it a try if it helps
buck
bent70 09-20-2002, 06:22 PM I don't have c-bushings on my arm.
Jerry74explorer- I checked the body mounts and that one under the brake pedal was crushed. Although the rest all looked fine. Would just that section cause this. I don't think I am goin to fix it looks like to much of a pain.
Jerry74explorer 09-20-2002, 08:48 PM Bent I don't think it's worth it on a trail rig. Not planing to fix mine and if I did I would get some big ass washers and weld them in -- quick and dirty!!
