So basically i cant get that lifted/zr2 look without trading in some preformance unless i do some major work right? How does the zr2 compare to the LS?

Well you can do small, simple stuff. The thing that screws stuff up the most is tire size. if you wan a like a 2" lift with the same or slightly larger tires you will only be trading miliage for the most part. I dont know what suspension you have in the back but you can do an add-a-leaf($80), 2' block($80)(assuming leafs). Air bags are cool because they are reversible and work with leafs or coils but they cost a lot and are stiff if used to increase ride height. Add-A-leafs = stiff ride, blocks fatigue your springs quicker. For the front I would reccomend new spindels or torsion bars or coils, again i dont know what your car has or whats available. If you dont increase tire size much you will be fairly well off. If I were you I would go with 2" blocks, torsion bars(assuming you have torsion bars), and a tire 1-2 inches bigger(diameter). This well net about 3" without Fuxoring up to much. Expect to pay around $80 for blocks, $150ish(I think) for torsions, and get it re-aligned after torsion install. Shop around for good install rates these things are hard to mess up. Or just do it your self. It can be done with a mere jack, 2jackstands, and a ratchet. Get a quality alignment. The torsion bars like to settle a bit after you set them. Wait a couple days worth of driving before aligning if you can. Hope at least some of this applies.

the LS is a trim package that comes on most, if not all S10s. my ZR2 is an LS.

you would have to use a Trailmaster 5" suspension lift to get anything near a 32" tire on it. with the Z, you can get 33s and some very minor trimming with a 5" lift.

all depends on what you are looking to get out of it. give me an idea on what you want.

mine is modded quite a bit, but it's not enough for what I want to do with it, so I'm going the SAS route.

the big downside to your situation is if you have a standard 4wd S10, then you have the smaller corp 10 bolt (7.5" ring gear, not sure on spline count) compared to the 8.5' ring gear 30 spline that the Z has. not that it's a great axle ( the Z one) but it's good to start with right off the floor or for those who stay away from the hardcore and high hp wheelin.

I ran 35s on a 8.5 10bolt and it did fine for 5 years except a broken carrier which had 280k on it and a bent housing which had 220k on it. I think the carrier broke because it ran in a bent housing for many miles though. :D

I hear ya. I'm running 33s on my 8.5 corp 10 and it's doing fine after about 30K. it has a lockright as well. I wheel it hard so it's not babied by any means ;)

but, I will get rid of that once I get the others setup (new ones)

I wouldn't be the first to break that 7.5" 10 bolt axle.

>I chewed up the stock ring gear on the road with 31" ATs.
>I replaced it and chewed it up again on a small trail (mud only).
>I did a Trailmaster and went to 35s with 4.56 gears after that, and ate up 2 sets of spider gears and 4 axle shafts in less than a year.

If you want the height of a ZR2 go with a 3" body lift. They are cheap and easy to install. (You might not like the extra frame that will show though.) At least then you will be able to fit a 31" tire.

Don't even try a 32 or up unless you want to break out the sawzall. ;)

This is a shitty picture, but this is what it looked like on my 4x4 LS with a body lift and 31" Wrangler MTs.
