: Which Kimber?

I don't like the way the online Kimber site is set up.

Simply I want a 10 round, blued/dark finish 1911 style .45 with wood grips, regular style plastic grips.
No more than $1,200.00. Which model is for me?

I can't seem to shoot my Para .45 straight, it shoots a bit high. One more chance and Im getting rid of it if I cannot hit shit.

The tactical II Entry looks sweet, but I don't if it holds at least 10 rounds.

Umm forgive me, buy you know the 1911 style handgun can only hold 8 rounds +1 in the chamber with a flush magazine, barring 1911s like the 2011 and Para guns. You can buy 10 rounds mags but they peek out the bottom of the magazine well a bit. The Kimber Tactical Entry II is a normal 7-8 round 1911 design.

Kimber doesn't make any 1911 style pistols chambered in .45 acp with a capacity greater than 8+1 rounds unless you get special magazines.

edit: Go here, browse their catalog. It's 9MB, so you know.

Why a Kimber? Why not any of the dozens of other companies that make a 1911 these days?

Are you sure it's the pistol? :flipoff2:

Seriously, I've had a Kimber Classic II for quite a while, and I love it! It delivers nice tight groups, and it will digest any round I feed through it. I've cranked more rounds than I dare to count through mine, and have never had a misfeed or ejection problem; not even a stovepiped case...

Long answer:

I'm too tired to go into a lot of detail, but, are you sure that a simple sight adjustment won't get you where you need to be? If you are grouping consistently in the same spot, just move the sights. In your case you would probably have to change the front sight. It's possible that the next pistol you buy will do the exact same thing this one is doing.

I have the Custom II TLE and it's the most accurate handgun I've ever owned! Kimber produces by far the best 1911 .45s on the market, but that's just my opinion :flipoff2:

I will check with the gunsmith. I want to be able to carry this gun on my MT trip rather than the 9mm. More firepower if you are out in the mountains in case of couger attack etc.

Thank you.:D

If you are worried about mountain lions, I'd start with a .44 mag revolver packed with CorBon 320g Hard Cast.

One question, will a regular 1911 shoulder holster work with my Para hi cap?
(Nite Tac 1445, 14 rounds .45)

Interesting. Didn't see those in the regular catalog.

I don't know if they still make them. Their website is stupid. I found that page through a google search, not through kimber's website.

I was wondering about that, as the only active link to those "Ten" guns was through the custom/discontinued section.

Going to the gunsmith and see if he can fix the issue.

Otherwise it will be a Kimber Tactical Entry II. Its 8 rounds right?

If you are just worried about cougar attacks you should take whatever you shoot the best. Felines are soft critters that are relatively easy to kill for their size. However you are venturing into the lands that carry big critters and neither of your weapon choices would be in my top 10.

If you are hell bent on the 1911 and you want to get some real killing done you should look up Clark Custom Guns and their drop in 460 Rowland kit. It will really tune a 1911 up into a performer.

Thats what a S&W Model 29 in 44 mag is for when the time comes. It will be before I take a trip to Alaska, or more trips to MT.

no shit? I thought hard about picking one up that was for sale on a local forum a while back. I wonder if that will bring the price down on the old ones.

I have a BP ten II, great gun. priced very reasonably and shoots very accuratly. But the Ten II series is discontinued. You can still find them new in gun shops or gunbroker. The polymer frame is narrower than you Para double stack. Buy a Ten II, you will like it
