I'm about ready to start building a new truck and am thinking about running a full width 60 in the front and a cab and chassis 14 bolt in the rear. The truck is an 87 1/2 ton cab/ frame wheel base will be some where around 110". I use the truck mainly for midwest wheeling which involves lots of snaking through tress and tight trails. I'm thinking the skinny rear will help fitting a full size places it doesn't belong. Any thoughts on this? Anyone ever run a 63" cab and chassis rear under a normal pick up frame? What's the chance 40's would rub with 3.5" back spacing wheels? Chances are I'll link it but I might stay with leafs for a couple years.

the rear tires will be awful close to the springs... you could always change hubs and disc brake it.

if you want a skinny rear you want/need the spring mounts off a 1t, they are closer to the frame than a 1/2-3/4t.
i doubt you will really notice the narrow rear but i would love to see it done and used, please report back on its success/fail. theroy says it should work but real world sometimes shows otherwise.

Inboard the rear springs, it'll flex like mad!

The eaton rear I run is I think 63" wide. It only rubs the inner fenders when flexed to the max, and my suspention flexs and is really low.
Oh and thats with 38.5x14.50 sx's.
I'd say run it.

my rig runs a 79 3/4 ton frame with 88 cab and chassis 60/14b my rims are 17x10 and i think they have 4" b/s and i have no problems clearing anything that is however no bed
i did not notice a differenece goin from cab and chassis from a 3/4 ton 14b the problem is the front end once thats through the rear will follow for the most part

When a friend of mine put the C&C rear of his Cummins'd '84 the inner wheel (dually setup) was too close for comfort to the springs. SRW hubs later they are mo' betta. He spaced out the brake backing plate and is still running the drums.

Chances are I'll link the thing and the bed will be removed for sure.

we did it to my brothers(wrenchen66) 66 chevy. granted we put it on mog 404s but the fender clearance would be no thing.

we inboard the springs under the frame with some custom brackets outa 3/8 plate to get the same ride height as stock. up front w used diy adjusable hanger and rear just did dom tube with 1 1/2 poly bushings and added shackles( and yes we moved the springs foward to get the shackles to sit up more and ended up using 7 inch shackles) then welded it all on

shortened the frame and bed bout 30 inches too.
it started as a 2wd 66 long bed. put a 85 chevy 4x4 chassis under it and the list goes on and on
