: Alien Supercrawl entry
I Lean 09-13-2002, 07:49 AM This is COOL! Rumor has it they're building two new vehicles for this event, a Cherokee and a Bronco. I'd like to know more though....can anyone translate this page? I searched for an online translator, but couldn't find one that would do the job.

I believe .is is Iceland. You might try to find some US sites to see if you can find someone who can translate that for you. I used to have a contact over there who was in a 4wd club. Guy from Illinois who was stationed there in the USAF.

TrailKeeper 09-13-2002, 10:52 AM It is Iceland, but I don't know which vehicle they are bringing. This RAM is pretty interesting, and it is for sale:

FloppyHat 09-13-2002, 11:03 AM I don't have many more details, but I do know that they both plan on running 36" TSLs and competing in the Legends Class. Apparently Ragnar Robertsson will be driving the 1984 XJ and Einar Emilsson will be driving the 1979 Bronco.

Still? That was for sale several years ago. What was the last update on that site? :p

Yup, Ragnar is entering. However I can't say any more than that. You will have to see once they have it built up.
His last visit to the U.S. rocks was out at Moab. Not sure if anyone got to hang with him as they played around. I didn't get to unfortunately. I figure they should just enter the competition with one of their Icelandic buggies and nitrous their way through the courses.... :D

I went to UROC in Vernal to cover the event for 4x4wire.com. After getting home, I was talking to one of the UROC officials and was told that these guys came out to the event to "research" the lines that Craig and Mike put together. They (the Iceland guys) were supposedly reported to have made comments that they would rule the rocks and the American drivers didn't have a chance. I was even forwarded an email that pretty much validated the statements.
Either way, misquoted or not, it should be interesting to see how their heavy narrow pedal theory works out on the big rock courses. I'll be there to cover it all. Wahoo!! Hmm wonder if I can get the laptop modified to upload some pics for you fellers in time??

It will be hard for them to dominate if they can't get through tech inspection.....all of the pics I have seen of the XJ look like there is no cage in it.
polop 09-22-2002, 08:51 PM I've been wheeling with Emil and Einar in Moab. (Unfortunately not Ragnar.) They are both very talented drivers and Einar has no fear. Dispite any arrogant statements they may or may not have made these are not arrogant people. They ARE confident like any competitor is and needs to be, they just have a hard time saying it in english without it comming accross as arrogance. It's a language barrier not an attitude problem. Their challenge is that they did't have enough sponcers to bring rigs from Iceland so they are building two here on a limited budjet with very limited time. I am personaly rooting for these guys. They have more stacked against them in time, travel, money, rock-competition-experience etc then probably any of us. I'll always root for the underdog. Go iceland!!! :) :) :) Just don't beat me.:D
i would love for those guys to come over here and open a can of whoop ass on our best. it would make for some real good drama.

I have to agree with you completely on this one. Ragnar and I have been chatting for years and he is a good competitor and a nice guy. Speaking to him, he knows that the super crawl is going to be a good field to go against and as any good competitor, he is going to have a blast trying to beat them all on their home field. I can't wait to go over there and beat them at Icelandic racing... :D hehehhe Maybe I can swing up there this winter or something and he will let me drive his rig up one of their volcanic courses.
