Cascade Cruisers 4th annual poker run

If you are in the Pacific North West, think about going to the Cascade Cruisers 4th annual poker run. The event is the end of this month on Saturday the 28th, at the Browns Camp OHV area. At this point in time there are only 28 spaces left, go here:
http://www.cascadecruisers.com/
for a copy of the application. We just got another large prize donation today, Baxter's Auto Parts worked with Warn and they kicked down a 9.5TI winch! So this will sit next to the set of four new Pro-Comp 12.50 x 35" (YES 35"!) Exterrain tires, and new Bestop Fastrack top on the grand prize podium! (Tons of other smaller prizes CB's, Optima Batteries, etc.) I wanted to post this up first in the Land Cruiser BBS side, since there are only a few spaces left. This next year the Cascade Cruisers are going to work with the TLCA and this event will be the first and only TLCA sanctioned event in the Pacific North West!!!!! (Pending TLCA approval first) This is an open event so all rigs are welcome.

Proceeds from the event are donated to the Oregon State Department of Forestry to help support the Browns Camp OHV area.

If you have any questions let me know! (We can also use extra volunteers!)

OK, flame away, but what exactly is meant by this term, "poker run?"

Nope good question.

The run is held with six check points. As you go to each check point you draw a card from a deck of cards, and you form a “Poker” hand. (discard cards you don’t want) But that is not the whole story, since you also earn points as you go. Each of the six check points have special challenges you or your passenger must complete. The better you do the more points you pick up. For example in the past we have had things like, blind fold the driver and the driver must negotiate a short obstacle curse only listing to directions from their passenger. Another is a plate of water is handed to your passenger, the driver then drives as quickly as they dare across logs, rocks ect. The more water in the plate (and not in the lap of the pass.) at the end the more points are awarded. Sometimes it is a simple “standing in the door of your rig toss three bean bags over the truck into a bucket, and so on. You can also earn extra credit points by answering 4x4 questions, “what color are your spark plug wires?” “Do you have a spare tie rod end?” “Your radiator has a leak what is an alternative to use as a trail patch?”

The trails are marked with arrows for both “Hard” lines/trails (if you are on the POR site these are not so hard really) and “easy”. (easy = full size truck, open with 31” “allterrain’s”) As you find your way along the tail you have to pay attention for the arrows. As you come into the check points you also want to keep an eye out for 12”x12” Land Cruiser cut outs that are dif. Colors as you keep track of what you find and if you get the right count on each color you earn extra points. Also in your registration bags you get a large trash bag, the more trash you haul out of the forest the more extra credit points you get. (last year we filled a full size PU bed with trash hauled out of the woods!)
