no.
the ring just muffles the whistle sound the turbo makes.

they say not to use k&n filter because of the oil.the oil will find its way on the vanes and coat them.i use amsoil dry filter in the stock box.

Plus it lets way too much dirt/dust in. May as well try to filter the air through a window screen instead.

Yep, IF you go into a parts store with a K&N demo filter. You can see right through it if it's not coated in oil. Get a BHAF instead. Much better solution to anything I know of.

i am still running a stock box and filter. will that filter work inside of the box or do i have to get a seperate unit? or will the stock filter be ok?

Shit can the stock air box, use a piece of 4" PVC pipe to make a sleeve. Stick in stock rubber air inlet pipe, stick other end in filter and clamp.

Filter rests on the fender more or less. Can make a heatshield if you want. Search BHAF for ideas.

haha, the BHAF takes place of everything. It's huge, it's for the 500hp marine Cummins engines. This is what it looks like installed.

Just think how much more effective it would be if it were shield from the heat off the turbo.

They sell heat sheilds, and there's a lot of forums where guys posted measurements to make your own heat sheild. Just search google, you'll find plenty.

And yet, you don't have one.
