rocktober?? sounds fun. Where exactly is it?

srjones78
08-11-2009, 07:06 AM
it is in Disney, OK. it is on the east side of the Grand Lake dam. I always stay at Hogan's camp ground on the south side of Main st. on the east side of the damn. You pretty much get to play in the spill ways of the dam which is pretty much all rock.

Not sure where you heard that, but I have been going out there for 6 straight years and know a few of these guys well. They do not put up with being an asshole or being stupid, but they run some built rigs in that club that are nice. Also have first hand experience that they are all down to drink a beer, but not in a "Let's see how much we can drink before someone pukes" kinda way. I like them, they don't tolerate stupidity, but all about having a good time.

Not really a Jeep above all things mentality either, they just like Jeeps, and thus that is all they allow. Their club, their rules. I have a Jeep, so it doesn't bother me.

What you guys like to see more of out there, as far as the event goes? After all we are doing this for current and future customers af the sport. It helps us out as venders to know what our customers are thinking. Don't be affraid to let us know. See you all out there.

84thumper
09-29-2009, 08:49 PM
I would like to see the venders bring out some of there products too sell maby offer a lil discount too people that come too the runs say like on brackets for 4 link setups or weld on beadlock kits or anything you offer or even used parts we could all use. The only problem on that is being venders and bringing out parts it takes away from your time getting too wheel and thats what were all there too do is get together and wheel and have fun but maby after the raffle or earley sat morn have a section where you all can show off some stuff you have forsale, i know it would be easyer too buy it while im there then trying too go up too your shop whynot or getting too vinita too chads especally during the work week.
What do yall think? Just an idea too help support the great sponsers we get and it would also help like jt in harrison during tuff times being able too sell stuff too all us okies sence its hard too get too harrison too shop with him.
Am i making any sence here?

Well I will be going sounds like fun. :D

I'm pulling my new to me 36' goose neck with only my rig on it due to it being the only trailer I have right now. If someone needs there rig towed up there I will have empty space on the trailer. All I ask is to help a little with gas. I live just east of the Oklahoma City area and I'm willing to make arangements to help someone out so that they can make the trip. i will be heading up there on the 22nd sometime during the day and coming back on the 25th in the afternoon. I will have room in the truck for two passengers if anyone wants to split the gas bill.

I know there's been many trips that I couldn't take due to not having or being able to borrow a trailer, so I'm just trying to help someone out that may be in the same boat.:smokin:

both would be good, the little things "bling products" would be more of an impulse purchase, the "hard products" are costly sometimes and would be good give away and a necessity thing too when it breaks.

84thumper
09-30-2009, 04:30 PM
Im thinking more twords the hardcore end i know i would be more likely too buy brackets or shafts or other hard parts vs grab handles n such now maby like 4 inch led tail lights too go along with maby some crusher corners now would make sence, Straps or snatch blocks stuff like that would be good smaller items that people are likely too break or loose on the trail.
I think its going too be nice too look at different companys stuff and products too buy i think it would be worth wild too bring some stuff. Any of you got any single wheel hubs for a dana 60 you wana bring down and sell gota duel front end i need too convert too single on a 4runner im building for a friend.

I love how Disney always steps up. When I was around town at the Big Meats run there were lots of store owners asking what the big event was and it seemed none of them had any know abouts.

Might be a good idea for some of the the head runners to get in touch with some of the businesses to let them know we are coming. I'd especially tell the liqour stores. Maybe they could put some beers on ice for us this time. :flipoff2:

I just hope all this rain we have been getting stays away so they dont have everything under water during the run or its going too be a packed parking lot with no wheeling. Herd the trails are getting pretty nasty up in the woods had some friends go up last weekend and said there all getting washed out and rutted up should make for some good nasty trails.

Just a heads up, Me and some IH guys were there this past weekend. All I can say is WOW  and that is quite a site to see the big Dam open (4 gates) along with Waterfall and Lil Blue. Needless to say nothing should be the same. Above the Rock Garden the large boulders (truck size) could be seen and heard being pushed along with all the water pressure. Russ said he thougt water would be shut off in a few days.

Picture was taken from Lil Blue state park.

Still raining less than an hour away :( Water level on the lake was very high this weekend. I didn't make it to the dam to check that area out, but the lake was about two feet from the cabin. I hope they can get the water down and shut the gates in a few days.

I have the feeling its going to be like Memorial Day was this year. If it is I'll probably be staying home. Riding an ATV all the way around to the back entrance of the trails is a pain. I only went out on it once Memorial Day and spent the rest of my time wheeling my Bronco. And I'm pretty sure the rest of my group is bailing on me.

Lake is falling... if we don't get more big rains, we should be alright... it'll be like BMR when they shut off gates on thur... hopefully... It's dropped over a foot and a half since yesterday eve, a about foot since this morning... Their target is 741, but they dont have to get all the way there to shut the gates... At 747.86 and falling... at a foot a day... well, it looks hopeful...

Went prowling around most of the morning. The waterfall is open from the top but we can't get to it from the bottom. The river is way up. Little blue is still under water. The rumor is that they will close those gates today. Hogan says all the trails are open. We've been playing around in the garden and lots of stuff has moved around. It has made most of the little rocks clear out and cleaned up most of the big rocks. We are going to shoot back to the trails later today and see what they are like.

We usually have 2 semis there and he saves us a place behind the trailerhouse but we usually go down early to be able to get in easy.

We will not be making the trip. You might call him and get him to save you a spot there......... We have also parked the Big Rigs north of the road that runs in front of the camp. There is enough room to get one off the road there...

Not really interested in stayingat Hogans, just wondering if I can park up there in that bigger parking area to the west. The trailer has the living quarters in it. Dont need to be bothered by the Sherriff or park ranger.

Wanna thank Rick and Chad and everyone else who put this event together!!! Great time as usual, and looking forward to SMORR event now. I ended up winning a set of seats, so it was a great weekend for me, even after the rest. Got there a little after noon on Friday and spent most of the afternoon on top of waterfall babysitting a broke down XJ that wouldn't start. Then had a several tire issues at the same spot, but all in all, not a bad weekend. I talked to several people on here, not sure who they all were, but this was my Jeep, so if we spoke, good to meet you! Especially the guy from Sherman who had the black buggy on 44's with purple chassis, that thing was too cool! Good talking with you!!!

Yes, I saw it. I was right there when you removed the thermostat housing to check it before even making sure you had coolant.

Spend less time bending tubes and more time checking basic fluids. Last 2 trips, no oil, and no coolant.

I want to make something clear to everyone who came out to our run this year. I personally heard some rumors that Russ Hogan told everyone in his campground that the run was cancelled do to the give a ways be "pilfered" as he put it. I'm here to tell you, that was not the case at all. The run was put on in the town of Disney, next door to city hall.

Russ Hogan has nothing to do with the events put on by BeastJeep.com or any other of the three main sponsers. He likes to tell people that he makes all this happen, when in fact he has absolutly nothing to do with it. Russ Hogan has nothing but a run down camp ground that everyone is familiar with. We quit holding events in his campground due to the fact he was charging $5.00 per rig to go to the give a way. We had people tell us that it wasn't right. The town of Disney is working with us to help promote these events that we put on, thats more than what I can say about Russ.:mad3:

For the people that missed our give a way due to false information, we our SORRY. Watch our web sites for the correct information, and the Pirate Board. We hope this doesn't keep you from comming next year. When you come back to Disney, TRY THE STATE PARKS FIRST. Thats where we stay!

Sorry about the rant, I just want people to know what is going on. You can't believe what Russ tells you, and if you don't believe me just read the Pirate thread.

Thanks to all that came out, we hope you enjoyed it. It was great weather, good friends, and good food at the city hall. Come see us at our Show Me Fun Run in June at SMORR. Brandon, the owner of the off road ranch is very hospitable. If you haven't been to his park, your missing out.

THANKS AGAIN FOR MAKING THIS A GREAT RUN!!!!

I'll be posting pics later this week....:D

yea, read this thread! Does it say anything about the run being canceled. Check our websites, did they say the run was canceled? If you kept up with this thread, People would have known it wasn't canceled. One of Beast last post was on Friday, and it said nothing about being canceled.

I just want everyone to know that Russ has nothing to do with our events. Because we don't include him, he tells people that its been canceled. To me that is BS. I personally don't think to much of him.

Well, maybe i shouldn't , but i will add to the Russ Hogan comments.

I personally like Russ, he has always been great to me. I know that there is bad blood between Russ and Beast ( and maybe the other guys that put on this event) I don't know the details of why, nor do i want to get in the middle. I know i was in contact with Russ for weeks leading up to the event and he never led me to believe that the event might be cancelled.

On top of that, I contacted Russ about a week prior to this event and told him that i would like to donate some of my product towards the raffle, he directed me to contact Beast and followed up by telling me how he had nothing to do with the event. So i contacted Beast and everything turned out great, he was also great to work with. I plan on making it to his future runs and donating what i can to help out.

Thanks,
Jason

I'll comment on Russ too. I stayed at Hogan's camp last weekend, as I have several times. He never said a word to me about anything being cancelled. I can understand the bad blood, differences do happen.

This was my first Rocktober, I've just had my XJ a couple of months, but I was at BMR in March in a VW Baja (Yeah, maybe off topic, but it's been down Waterfall and survived).

Looking forward to making it to more of the events put on at Disney, no matter who sponsers them.

Chad, I know exactly what you are talking about and I understand. There's a reason the racing and crawling associations stay away anymore, not to mention Howiepalooza. really enjoy what you guys do, will support you as long as I can and look forward to many more runs!!!! Until the BMR and SMORR, take care!

As said, we the vendors want to say SORRY to anyone who missed the drawing! Sorry if the message did not get out to everyone that the Rocktober Run drivers meetings and drawing was to be held at the Disney City Hall, or that you where told something different. This run is a way for us the vendors to give a little back to everyone that supports us throught out the year. Lets look forward to next year. Watch the threads for future runs and we will make sure that you know when, why and how the event will take place. Beast will always have all the details for what every event we are working.

Thanks

For those of you who don't have street legal rigs? Do you have problems driving from the state park? We don't have tags on most of our rigs so we prefer to stay off the street. I know the city cops are ok most of the time, but the state trooper is a different story.

it is legal to drive down the side of the road (hwy) in non street legal rigs. everywhere else besides the hwy is legal to drive on the road, as long as you have seatbelts, tail lights at night, ect. if you are going to little blue, it is legal to cross the dam as long as you get back off the hwy as soon as possible.

OriginalTRV
10-29-2009, 10:14 AM
With that, if you cross the Hwy, you can can cross it at 90 degrees and that is legal. You can run the shoulder up to Chezees, then cross at a 90 degree to get gas. That was told to us by the mayor of Disney.

As usual beast is showing his lack of class. Russ never told anybody the event was cancelled,as the guys said they talked to him on the phone he directed them who to call. Don't blame somebody else if your event isn't what you wanted. As for the campground, I guess the 1500 people staying in there for our Rocktoberfest, they think it's just fine.I also doubt that Russ would want to be a part of your event. To bad the beast will never do for the sport what Russ does every day to keep it alive.
