List the tire, axle, gear, transmission, and exactly witch VW diesel you are wanting to use.
Also what type of 'wheeling you like to do.

There are a couple folks here with VW diesels
(me being one of them) :grinpimp:

The easiest solution if ya wind up with too low-a gears?

BIGGER TIRES :D

We're running pretty low gears in our diesel equipped rig.

Do I wish we didn't have the low gears? You crazy?
If 1st is too low, just put it into second. Its nice to be able to idle over stuff without having to touch the accelerator. The low gears and diesel work great together.

Thing you gotta watch out for is not to bring the highway gearing down too low. With 32" tires and only tcase gears, I sometimes wish we had 6th gear in the vehicle.

does someone still make a vw diesel kit? I thought I read a while ago that it wasn't being made anymore, any truth to that?

Roadless has one, but I'm not sure what it includes.

We've been working with Doug Kelsay on the license and re-release of the AXIS power kit. its still aways out though.

Haven't heard of any others besides the two.

With stock gears and 31's you wish for a 6th gear on the highway. Off road, I find the stock lo-range "adequate", but lower would be better. I do use lo-2nd some now, which I NEVER did with the 1.3 motor. I have the 1.9td, but at the rpm I idle around on you could probably do just as well with the 1.6 NA. I do love the boost in the mud, tho', especially when using 2nd to get the wheel speed up in the muck.

Don't you love that turbo when it kicks in!

I swear our diesel zuk is faster 0-40 than our Toyota Celica. You can really feel that turbo pulling. With our snorkel on, you can hear it nicely too.
