apologizing in advance, but i couldn't find the answer to this question after an hour of looking....................
just picked up a 98 Discovery for my wife as a daily......and i want to immediately replace the :rainbow: ass factory alloys with some Eaton steel wheels....so, question is can i replace the 16's w/ a 15x8 and do regular 5 on 5.5"'s fit?
sorry again for the lame newbie shit, but what the hell.
thanks.

NO! regular 5 on 5.5 dont fit.
But regular 5 on 6.5 do. :flipoff2:
The question then becomes where to find 5 on 6.5.
Try safarigard, gulf coast rover, or a custom wheel mfgr like Stockton wheel out this way, but Im sure there is some one closer to the Atlantic.
Older series wheels will work as well, but the stock alloys will take quite a beating.

right on...much appreciated :flipoff2:
guess the proceeds of selling the factoy ones will cover a good set of steeies and MTR's.
thanks!

HA!
Lucky if you get 300 for the set. LR people like steelies better and since ALL discos and RR came with alloys no one really needs them.
Oh BTW, LR wheels have a second lip which makes them ideal for running low pressures. It is very hard to blow a bead. Just get a 2in lift (cheap bastard works great, rovertym if you got the money) and some 235 85 MTRs and you are in business, run the alloys, who cares if they get scratched up, you got deep dishes only the outside edge will get messed up.

Use your stock rears in place of the 751s. Basically its the same spring . . . rate hieght etc are nearly equal.
1/2 price aka cheap bastard

sold my rims and some old tires for $450.00, and that was to a good freind. i know a guy who got well over $600 for his old rims and tires. You must not realize how much those rims are worth. People break a rim on a curb going 60mph, and they want a new one, they feel they get a good deal when you sell a set of tires and rims for the price of just one rim from LR. Some RR rims are in the $500 ea. range. That would hurt. I will stick to my cheap steel rims.

oh yeah, what about the 15x8 rim....any clearance issues on the calipars over sticking w/ the factory 16" rim?
and from what i can tell....seems like the backspacing to go w/ is 4.25"?
