Doing a diesel swap, using my stock gas tanks.. How well do they need to be cleaned? Can I just slosh some diesel around in it, drain it, and call it good? Or do I need to take it in to have someone flush it?

Thanks..:D

slosh and drain, then install

a tiny bit wont hurt ( say 1/4- 1/2 gal in a 20 gal tank ) but the dryer the better

I didn't even remove my tank,
I drained it as much as possible with an electric fuel pump on the puckup tube, then just filled it all the way up with diesel, so your probably more than good.

safe up to about 10% depending on the engine, if your that concerned you can dump in some 2 stroke oil. i used to run wmo in my old truck and i cut it with gas.

you can mix 5% gas in with your diesel in a pinch. this will help with gelling in the winter if its effecting your fuel. the few ounces in the bottom of your tank won't make a difference.

So for the return line.. Should I just drill/tap the tank for a line, or..?

I put a tee in the vent line ( the 5/8 rubber line to the fill neck)

Just like everyone already said. Not even worth droppin the tank, just make sure you get as much gas out as possible, then fill it up completely with diesel, and let it idle to help mix it up as good as possible. If it's a IDI 7.3 or 6.9, it's not even worth draining it, just fill it up.

skipped_Link : I didn't even think about that..Thanks! :D

It is a 7.3l idi. The tank is full of year old premium gas. I have an electric pump on it.. I just hooked it to a battery and drained it out into gas cans.

Thanks guys.

Yea you don't really have to remove the tank. Just make sure to drain the gas out and fill it up with diesel then you're good to go!

Only from before the diesel swap. I'll take some more pics when I'm done.
