Just wanted to say hey. Been lurking around the forum for a while reading up on some of the rides here and figured I'd sign up. I've got a unique vehicle I've been tinkering with. Its a 99 Daihatsu Hijet mini truck from Japan. It had a 660cc 3 cylinder gas engine with high/low transfer case, but I've stripped the drivetrain out of it to swap in a Honda D16Y8 transaxle with triangulated 4-link. 4 wheel steering. I use if for moderate off roading, no competition rock crawling or anything. I'm thinking about putting in a build thread but not real sure where to put it. Maybe the UTV section? Any suggestions? Here are some pics of my project and a link to my build. I havent updated it in a while.

This is what it looked like before I ripped the drivetrain out of it.

This is its home in the garage now.

Uniqueness is why I got it. I've got some 27 x 8.50 commercial skidsteer tires on Cragar soft 8's that I'm putting on it. It has 25" on it in the picture. When I got the truck the stockers were on 12" wheels. The truck is just really small.

Those things are bitchin'!! We had one for the irrigation team at the golf course I used to work at in high school. That was the most sought after work vehicle after the morning meeting. Yours is much nicer than most!!:smokin:

That is the nicest hi jet I have seen. A guy down the street has 2 of the Suzuki's like it, one is sporting a Busa motor bitch will fly not nearly as clean.

i have thought about doing a build on a suzuki carry model. i would like to see if i could build one with a metro motor and 35's and get a weight of 1200lbs or less. it would be great for my snow drift needs. if i see one cheap enough, i may find out. i don't know what section for a "diahonda" suzuki seems appropriate, but someone there may not go for that. seems overkill for a utv. we need a bastard child section.:D put some samurai axles on that thing and you are in.

Thanks for the comments! Unfortunately.... (I know I'm gonna catch hell for this) I'm using Narrow Trac Dana 30's. Width was a big factor. + there is a decent aftermarket for chromolly shafts/lockers/gears to upgrade to when I start breaking stuff. Overall the 30's should do their job with the size tires I plan on runnin.

Maybe I could put it in the Toyota Truck and 4 Runner forum? Daihatsu is owned by Toyota.

If you're gonna tear into it and build it up, definately post in the Toyota section as we'd love to see what it evolves into.
