I'm kicking around the notion of dual casing my samurai. Only problem (well I like the diesel, it's not a problem) is I need to retain my samurai transmission, or at least the flywheel/centerforce clutch. I've been looking at the kicker 3 setup. But this means running a kick transmission. I believe it'd be easy to modify the steel adapter plate I have, or build my own "lucky13" style ears to adapt the housing. But from my understanding, I'd need to change the clutch/flywheel setup as the input shaft is different? I had a stock samurai clutch in mine for a short while, but they won't stand up to the VW diesel when it starts pushing 20psi of boost. So I bought a centerforce dual friction clutch that has served well over the past 10K miles or so.
I'd love to have a rock block, but those aren't made anymore. It'd be the answer to my problem. I know many will say just throw gears in the case. But the problem with the gears is the lowered high range. I currently run about 3100rpm at 60mph, putting a set of 4.16's in there would bump 60mph up to almost 3500rpm.
