: Dual t-casing a samurai with VW diesel

I'm kicking around the notion of dual casing my samurai. Only problem (well I like the diesel, it's not a problem) is I need to retain my samurai transmission, or at least the flywheel/centerforce clutch. I've been looking at the kicker 3 setup. But this means running a kick transmission. I believe it'd be easy to modify the steel adapter plate I have, or build my own "lucky13" style ears to adapt the housing. But from my understanding, I'd need to change the clutch/flywheel setup as the input shaft is different? I had a stock samurai clutch in mine for a short while, but they won't stand up to the VW diesel when it starts pushing 20psi of boost. So I bought a centerforce dual friction clutch that has served well over the past 10K miles or so.

I'd love to have a rock block, but those aren't made anymore. It'd be the answer to my problem. I know many will say just throw gears in the case. But the problem with the gears is the lowered high range. I currently run about 3100rpm at 60mph, putting a set of 4.16's in there would bump 60mph up to almost 3500rpm.

Oh yeah, forgot, need to stick with the samurai flywheel since it's machined for the VW bolt pattern on the crank.

There's the Kicker 2 which lets you run the Toyota t-cases.

Seems as though I was a little mislead while doing a parts search on the clutch. The inputs are the same between the transmissions. So all I'll need to do is modify the outter bolt patterns for the bellhousing. I should be able to get away with my current setup then. I'm looking at two different trackick trans/tcases right now nearby.

The kicker 2 wouldn't work either as I'd have to change the clutch as well. Plus it puts the output in a center location instead of the offset the samurai has.

I run my diesel w/the Kicker III + stock Sidekick case & 4.16 Sammy case. I am very satisfied with this combination

What size tires are you running? Stock 3.73's in the axles?

I used to run a GRS II & stock Toyota 4.10's with 36's back when I was doing the gnarly stuff. Very good combo.

I have since scaled back, I run 32's now & stock 3.73's = very driveable :)

Yup, I'm running 32 BFG AT's and the stock 3.73's. Just about perfect for the diesel.
