Well I got another question for u guys. My FJ-40 has a Chevy 350 swapped in it from the previouse owner and it looks as though the drive shaft will hit the oil pan if i lift it  ! The swap is very clean cut but i am scared :( . The shop who put the engine in has already taken a hammer to the side of the oil pan to make the drifshart farther away, It hasnt been hit in that much but u can tell that they did it if u look hard. The FJ has a 1" body lift on it right now running 33" AT's and when i flex it the driveshaft doesnt hit, but when i put a 2.5" lift i am scared it will. I will still be running 33's and would like to have as much flex as i can. I dont realy have many choices right nowand was wondering if yall could help. Does anyone know where i could find a smaller deeper oil pan, or will this be a fabrication job? I would realy like to not have to resort to limiting straps

Thanks guys,
Sam <><

Well, if you have more lift, it will be further away from the oil pan.

Now if you are trying to achieve more flex, you might have a problem, but bumpstops will clear that up. You don't really need more upward travel, do you? The down travel is what counts.

Just do the lift and flex it up. If it hits, add longer bumpstops.

Actualy it is right where the drive shaft connects the the u-joint so it wont be that much farther away with the lift. I would realy like to not have to extend the bumpstops but i will if i have too.

You have to extend the bumpstops. Pete McPherson and I have fought this demon in his 350 powered 55, & lost a lot of oil in the process. Extending the bumpstops (twice) solved the problem. That oil pan is low and thin.
