Well, I've got a 383 stroker in my truck that me and my old roommate put together, and I think I've got issues with it. He was the motor guy, so bear with me here...

Basically, left truck with my mom when I went to alabama, she filled it up almost completely with 87 octane. Now my friend told me I always had to put 93 octane in it, and I told her this but of course she forgot...So she waits til she's driven it a mile down the road back to the house to tell me. She ended up going to get octane booster from the parts store, and some fuel additive the guy sold her to clean the engine out. So she put all that in, and drove it about 6 miles to my uncles. There it sat for 2 weeks, til I got back today. I figured i'd tell the whole story so you guys would know what its been through so far.

Anyways, questions now. What will 87 octane do the the motor? (9.5:1 compression)

Was it driven long enough to hurt it?

I got in it today, and it seems like its got less HP, but maybe I'm just imaging it because my friend told be NEVER run lower than 93.

Opinions/help, please?

What kind of truck is it? Fuel injected? Carbed? Does it sound like you have marbles in your valve covers? If not I wouldn't worry about it that much. 9.5:1 isn't that high as long as your timing is set with a little leeway and it is running rich enough it won't really be a problem. Unless your mom was standing on the throttle the entire way to your uncles with the engine pinging, I seriously doubt it hurt anything.

Its carbed. Just went out and cranked it up again, everything sounds like its in working order, no pinging or rattling, no marbles in the valve covers heh.

Safe to say its fine? Like i said, not a motor guy, was just a little worried.

if its not pinging, dont worry bout it. if it is, retard youre timing 2*. then run the gass out of it and fill with super and put back timing.

your ok with that low of compression.

about the only thing it would do is make it run shitty as long as they didnt romp on it.
