So Christy, my wife, gave me the oppertunity to watch matthew at work so work on hard stuff stopped and I enjoy'd working on Snoopy w/ him. He banged on things and tried to take a few bolts out will I started the install on my floors.

I turned this:

With any luck I'll be finishing the driver side and bed before the weekend is up...then I'll get some more tread plate and work on the body armor.

PS ~ I'm rebuilding the Q-Jet in "Free-Scout" tomorrow...my next door neighbor is into Q-jets and can rebuild them in his sleep ~ so with any luck I'll be driving that before the weekend is up.

Ya, I can get 4x8 ft sheets of the floor plate for like $60 each... It looks like I'm going to go through abotu 4 sheets when I include the 'body armor' part of it (I'm going to plate the outside of the body from the tail lights to the front fender opening with it), so I figure a full sheet was used to do the front floors, a full sheet for the bed area and a full sheet for each side...

I should hopefully be done with the insides by this weekend...

Floors look good Snoopy, what thickness is that 1/8" or so, are you just overlaying it over the old are cutting the old out and replacing it. Are you planning on doing the out side like Daves scout?

Well I had a good reply to your message but POR said my attachment was too big...sooooo.....by the time I hit the back button....it was GONE!

In breif,

1/8" = 11 gauge
1/16" = 16 gauge (stock)
I'm using 14 guage...which isn't quite 1/8 but it isn't quite 1/16.

I'm going over the old floors BUT I'm also coating them with paint and undercoating to minimize rust in the new stuff. I'm also welding the new floors to BOTH the old floors & sides as well as the other new floors (so they aren't just floating on the old stuff...I'm actually attaching them to the good metal left on in the body)

Outside ~ DAVE KINGs ~ OH...at first I thought you were talking about Dave RedNECK. Yes, similar to Daves...I don't recall his exact way of doing it, I remember that his has ALOT more up front than I want...(right now)... I'm planning on something like this:
http://www.dandcextreme.com/snoopy/outside.jpg

So when you get it for paint, you'll only need to paint the top part...I'm planning to undercoate or bed line the rest...hey, don't you do that too?:D ;)

I would use a rust converter over the rusty old floors and not even worry about painting them, just wire brush the lose rust off and apply 2-3 heavy coats of converter, and on the bottom side where you can see the new floor through the holes in the old floor just chaulk it and you shouldn't have any moisture problems causing rust under the new floor. Thats kind of like Dave Kings but the last 2 feet of the rear 1/4 is plated to the top and the first 2 feet of the front fender is also plated to the top, he used 1/8" and 1/4" he used a large press to bend it to fit the contours of the body. I think the 14-16 guage is a better idea, good thinking. It looks good, and i can do spray in bed liners (Super linner is what i have used). I guess Redneck Daves scout was sold agian.

Got the wire brush ~ but no converter. I think it'll hang in there long enough for me to destroy the body...

Good idea...I thought of that...but only in passing.

Ya, easier to bend and conform to my wishes. King's Scout is built to beat for years and years...he also did a much better job on his floors and interior than I ~ he's built his to last a long time...I figure its only a matter of time before Snoopy's body (which is already rusted and falling apart) virtually desitegrates leaving me with a tube-chasis 4-banger....

I guess Redneck Daves scout was sold agian. doesn't suprise me, that thing was a beast and not for the faint of heart.

Acuttly Dave Kings 800 started out as a rust free perfect tub from Coonrods and after a few trips though Indy it need the diamond plate to cover the dents.
