I know this has been covered in about 20 places but I can't find what i am looking for.

I have a AMC 360 and a NP 435. I bought the new pilot bushing and have the right bellhousing. Everything I read stated that is ALL you need for the swap.

Well, my existing throwout bearing (clutch release bearing) from the T-18 sure as hell will not fit on the 435 shaft. I went down to my local idiot part stores and they don't seem able to help me with finding one to fit a 435.

Novak and Advanced are closed on weekends.

Can anyone here tell me a part number for a throw out bearing that will work with a mechanical clutch for this situation?

Maybe I should put this in the Ford section?

How about this, what common year/model Ford could a 435/205 combo come in? I am assuming late '70's F-250 when I talk to the parts stores.

1966-1992 ford pickups F100-F350 came with a np435. the fact that it had a tcase on the back is not relevant. the input bearing collar and input shafts did not change in ford applications through out those years

IIRC:

The throwout bearings are different, depending on whether or not your pressure plate is a 3-finger, or diaphragm style.

Remember the clutch arm needs to sit forward and have the exact same degree of motion forward as backwards. ie - 7 degrees forward, 7 degrees back.

With throw out bearings and there are two part numbers one for the longer bearing. The bearing that is 1.2" long (Part# 614115) and the one most of us need is 1.5" long (Part# 614034) this is the one i am running with the T176 bell and a np435.....

you probably have already been here but i'm going to link the info anyways

I recommend checking my info before you haul off and buy parts because my chicken scratch is 10 years old and grease covered

Thanks for the info. That is what I was unable to find on Napa's web site.

http://www.napaonline.com/NOLPPSE/(S(yuf3y445wp2kenjqm2gy2345))/Detail.aspx?R=BRGN1444SA_0213174211

It has the correct inside diameter, I will check tonight and see if the outside will fit my clutch fork.

Once Novak opens today I will be giving them a call as well. They talk about throw out bearings, but honestly the method they describe to figure the one you need seems a little difficult with the motor in the vehicle. That tranny is not exactly easy to take in and out. Hopefully this is a caommon enoguh applicaiton that they give me the same part number.

I figured out my own problem ... :homer:

I was trying to use my T-18 bearing not even thinking about the fact that I had to change to a T-176 bellhousing. :shaking:

They use entirly different bearing, I am sure the T-176 will work as all the documentation states.

Time to get my 435/203/205 installed and on the trail. :grinpimp:
