I'm trying to take off the bolt on my T-Case to check the oil level. The damn thing will not budge. I used a socket and nothing hapenned. I cranked so hard that even the metal around the bolt became rounded. I then used penetrant and huge grippers and still no luck. I never thought removing a bolt could be so hard. Any advice?

use a 6pt socket (17mm) and a long breaker bar. if that don't get it something is very wrong.

fused by rust? you didn't say any was visible, maybe some of that
locktite stuff was used...

EDIT: a lot, not just some :D

naw, no loctite was used. I just had my transfer case rebuilt by mudrak. He didn't use anything special to keep it in. I dunno what i'm gonna do. It will not budge.

I GOT IT! Finally!. What I ended up doing is grinding down two sides of the bolt to make 2 long flat sides. Then I got really long pipe grippers and used my rowing position(I was on the crew team in HS :) ) and that did the trick. After I got it off, I cleaned up the bolt, added oil to my t-case and put the bolt back on for now, until next week when I'll get a replacement. I'm glad I didn't break anything. :)
