Good tip: In the areas where you do not too rough of a texture, take some wax paper and press against the coated area. Still has the textured look but is relatively smooth. Other than that, rolling that crap on was a B!@CH!!!

Got the floppy jalopy on a trailer and over to a friend's house. Started on the front 3 link, but didn't get as much done as I wanted due to a couple v-dub guys wanting tube work done (subaru powered beetle) and a roll bar project for a Datsun.

The most that did get done was building brackets and tabs and tacking everything in place. Hopefully this week I'll have some more done and some pictures.

My weekend was from Wednesday afternoon till this morning at 4:30am. We had house guests and such.

I fucking spent the whole weekend driving around, spending money, walking in 100* heat, shopping, eating, drinking, eating more...and getting so little sleep due to 100* days.

My transmission seems to be doing something...

Had a generally crappy week/weekend. I'll just hit the low lights.
-It was freakin' too hot to be outside, but I work outside.
-Had a drain backup into the garage on Wednesday, get the call from the wife "Um, honey there is water pouring out under the garage door..." Spend 3 hours under the house dealing with 40 years of sludge and general grossness.
-Threw clothes away, took shower and headed for Southern Oregon for my grandpa's funeral.
-Thursday we had the funeral. Sucked. Did I say it was hot already? I felt the worst for the Army guys in full uniform at the cemetary, my pants and shirt didn't seem so hot looking at them.
-Saturday started the remodel of our living room. Tore out the carpet and scraped the 'popcorn' ceiling off.
-Sunday continued the tear out and started re-working the sheetrock on the ceiling for new texture.
-Zero Scout work and about zero fun or relaxation.

The Wife got us KILLER seats at the ZZ Top-Aerosmith concert. So close that we got too close of a look at Tyler and Perry!

They sho do have purty teeth! :homer:

Billy Gibbons is a one hell of a guitar master. :smokin: ZZ Top is well worth whatever it costs. He and Perry did a damn great long jam session.

Watch the Daughter take silver in the 100 and 200 meter runs at the USA State Games. She just barely got beat out of 1st, both times. Unfortunately she only had 3 weeks of training before the event because of a recent broken sternum. She beats everyone, yes including the Black girls out of the blocks badly!

The black girl's looks were stunning as they tried to catch her, but couldn't.:grinpimp:

Now I get to pull the 4l80 out of the big Scout as I punched a hole in it with the front driveline.
Damn it all to hell! :mad3:

At least it is repairable by some welding. Its a kick in the dick to pull it out.

I wheeled, but very pussy stuff...

I took my wife in the daily driver up the east side of Crater Lake National Park.

When it comes down to it, she just doesn't like driving on new roads where the maps and GPS don't really show up too well.

Finally got my seats last week... but no $ for seat x-bars

Had to deal with ex-roommate and her bf moving out:mad3: Talk about lazy bastards taking their friken time . Oh, and the fawkin yard sale in my front yard.. the leftovers that were still on the lawn when she left, damn vagrants and homeless fawkers in my yard the whole night. Was going to send the dog out to get a couple of em. Thank god the garbage man picked up the rest of it the next day :shaking:

So I cleaned the garage Sat afternoon, then spent all day cleaning the house Sunday . :flipoff:

Plus I had to pay the full rent today... SHIT... :nuke:

These are nice looking brackets, I'm not sure how they mount, what's your plan for the three holes on the top, adjustable coil retainers?

Nothing scout related.

Worked out in the barn making a rack to put all of the containers for the recyling bins in to appease the wife. Came out pretty good after I dismantled it for the third time to square one of the frames. Worked with one of the alumni First Robotics kids making a pocket knife that we have been working off and on for the last year. Don't ask me why I said yes that I would help him make a pocket knife.

Watched the wife peel the trim off the basement windows to fix the PO's crappy job of sealing the casement windows in the basement getting ready for carpet in the basement. That has turned into a nightmare. Now I have to try to figure out how to put flashing on the deck that runs the whole length of the house since it was not flashed properly to start with. Getting a little water in the house when it rains hard. Hmm kinda wonder if there is some water down there today. We got rained on really hard today.

Can't wait to get done with all of the house projects so that I can build the cage for the Scout I have been wanting to do for the last few years. Dealing with a crappy heep cage for now. It needs to go before I go over and impail myself with it's beautiful construction.

Thanks. I'll try to post a cad picture of the complete setup later or the brackets tacked on the axle. I wasn't sure exactly how I wanted to retain the coils so I just put 3 holes in the plate, the outers will have a nut welded to the bottom. The holes are parallel to the frame, with the center one directly over the axle centerline.

I actually got a bunch done to my Scout this weekend. Switched roof from a half cab to a travel top, removed doors, front seats and driver/passenger side floor. Going to start doing body work to make the truck structurally sound. I also sourced out and bought some new axles for it...D44's from a J20.

Since I will NEVER buy from them again, call them and see what response you will get.

A response that I got from them, was there was others waiting for parts longer than me!

You know, when you order from a site and it DOESN"T say there WILL be a 3 week wait for parts, would you not expect the parts to be shipped in a few days?

Not you having to e-mail 2 weeks later and like, WTF?

On top of that, the High steer arms, were machined WRONG!
Luckily, I can use them on the rear of the big Scout.

Their arms are a complete knock off of Parts Mike's 60 arms, Parts Mike service rocks too.

The only thing I can say about ballistic is that through shear volume they are going to have screw ups, but I'm sure its a small percentage and most people are happy. I've had a few issues with brackets from them and customer service seemed to have a chip on their shoulder (Ive had the same dealings with BTF) I think that's is just how its turning with these larger offroad shops.

scout related, cleaned up the scout and got most junk thrown away. Still have the 60 under the front and now figuring which springs I'm going with....WAGGY or Stock?? Waggys are flexy and I've had them before....probably go that route

I called them about the inserts, and they told me they didn't need to be tapped all the way thru! I said without being thu tapped it defeats the adjustability, they said "well cut it off then". The threads were single pointed in and are a really sloppy fit too.

I won't order from them again either. My card was charged the day I ordered and I got my parts almost 4 weeks later, they we supposedly "on the shelf". When I called after 2 weeks without recieving any shipping info I was told they hired additional shipping staff and my order would be going out within a day. :flipoff: ballistic :flipoff:

Do you recall who you spoke to about the inserts? It's been 3-4 months now that we have either been back-drilling or full-tapping the inserts. I would be happy to take care of you two in any way I can. I apologize about the shipping issue you experienced, we have indeed hired more shipping staff and are trying very aggressively to correct the issues at hand.

Please contact me via PM if you think that I could help any further.

Report back on how Vic takes care of you guys. My experience (couple years ago) with Ballistic was good. And I've seen Vic in a few threads speak up and try to take care of issues that pop up. To me this is the mark of a company that DOES care about its reputation.... but only if they follow through.

From and engineering point of view, I see NO reason those inserts should not have been tapped all the way through. Seems like an engineering short fall to me unless they were truly longer and just about any joint or shank you would screw into them, glad to here you guys have since remedied it.

I've dealt with Jeff at Ballistic several times and they never rested until I was 100% satisfied the one time that I did have a problem with some custom parts.

The reason for the short threads is that with a conventional tap in a CNC tap holder it's simply as deep as it can go without crashing, plain and simple. We have since had custom shank taps ground to allow for deeper threads, as well as better formed. At that point the 2.0" thread was enough to clear a rod end, but now that forged shank joints are more popular, it has become necessary to revise the design.

I do care about my rep and I do want to see the customer happy, so please let me know if you think that you have been wronged by my staff or myself, sometimes we don't even realize it until it's too late.
