: Possible Stupid question to XJ Owners....

Someone on another board posted that they were giving away (aka free) the rear axel out of a 90 XJ.

I guess I am wondering if this is a d44? Did 90 XJ's come with a d44? Or do they have the crappy d35c, which I would still take for free. Who knows, I may blow my d35c before I can do a swap. Heck, I might even lincoln lock it and just destroy it in the mean time.

I think only the 88s and maybe some 89s came with D44 rears (if you were lucky).

I have a Dana 35 non-c clip axle (bolt in shafts) with 4.56 gears that you can have for free... Just pay shipping... It need a new carrier (have spare) and possibly new wheel bearings... Im sure you can get these for pretty much next to nothing dollar wise... Hugh

I appricate that, but the guy is local and I can just drive over to pick it up.

Cripes, if he's local, go by and look!

I'd bet on a D35, maybe a C8.25. Doubt it's a D44, that's worth some bucks.

I just got an email from him and I am second in line for it. If the first guy falls through I will go pick it up, even if it is a D35c, spare parts would be nice in case of a blow-out.

I don't think that someone with a D44 on his XJ will think about giving it for free!

Like I said, it was probably a stupid question. For a moment, I thought that a D44 was standard on some XJ's. So, thanks!

It could be a D44 or a Crysler 8.25...or a c-clip D35

90 is to early for the 8.25, some had it in 91, and none with abs have had it yet to my knowledge. most likely its a 35c
