Only works on home phone where you have a spare outlet to plug it in. Recorder uses regular tape cassettes and plugs into 110. You plug it all in and hit the record button. It only records when any phone line is activated anywhere on the circuit. Pauses when the phone is hung up so no wasted tape. It only records when the phone line is in use...

I used it when I was a single Dad and needed to keep tabs on what my kid was doing. Yeah, I recorded everything he said on the phone. He couldn't figure out how I knew his every move. Kept him in line pretty good. He thought I had some kind of ESP or something cause I kept telling him I could read his mind...

Anyway, as he got older, I told him about it and he just laughed. He was relieved that I really couldn't read his mind. It gave me peace of mind that he was actually behaving himself and saying NO to his buddies stupid ideas and not getting in any trouble...

So this thing still works. If anyone has a use for it, it's free. Wanna record the ex when she calls and give you shit? Works for that too. My wife had to pay me child support due to some of the things I recorded when she called...
