: Holy Fat Jeep Batman!!!
TPIJeep 09-15-2002, 05:12 PM Just pulled out the race car scales and loaded the Jeep on them, to my suprise she weighed in at 4539 lbs.
She has 48% rear weight and 51.5% left side weight, the thing that has me puzzled is the front tires are only 3 lbs different but the Left Rear has 136 lbs more on it. The Jeep was full of fuel with my survival box centered in the rear with no people in it.
What are yall weighing in at? Seems sorta fat to me! :D

Doesn't the fuel tank in a CJ- sit off to the left side??? I seem to remember the one on my '78 CJ-7 does. This would explain the difference in weight.

Scott@Rockstomper 09-17-2002, 10:15 PM Was 4100 with doors, Boggers, and a glass windshield.

TPI, I'm kinda chuckling at the fact that you've got left side weight there... you shoulda posted your wedge and crossweight too. :) (am I even remembering the right terms?)

yeah not really dissing ya, just wondering how you keep those rear wheel openings so pretty.
I know mine is due for a chop here shortly with 38" needing some breathing room.
Sorry to go offtopic...just wondering if I was missing something.

wngrog 09-18-2002, 05:54 AM Keep it pretty as long as you can. Soon enough you will get it in some nasty spot that will force you to remove some metal.
I think it is cool that you have a capable wheeler AND it looks good.
It's just too bad you live in F'ing Rustin, LA where there is NO place to wheel.

Oh don't worry you can't see it in the picture but I have about 2" trimmed off the front and the tire was still eating it. I JUST finished putting my TJ flares on it and was able to trim about 2-3 inches more up front and a bunch out back.
You think the 40" boggers will rub?

Sorry to hear that.... Hey I have an RV will travel! Looks are a relative thing, I snap the pictures from the good side and forget about the smashed fender and crushed windsheild frame..... Heck I built it I AM going to use it!

If you can get that hellacious push outta the suspension... :)
And since you've got Swampers, just keep swapping tires from corner to corner till you get the stagger right. :p
My problem now is, I need to shave some more weight, and I'm about out of stuff to trim that isn't actually necessary. I'll be cutting a couple more feet of frame and the stock gas tank, plus about 10" of wheelbase out, but I doubt that it'll save me more than 50 pounds or so, once it's re-tubed to where it'll hold up. Removing the cab isn't much of an option (I can only remove about 30 pounds of that before I'm into no net gain due to having to reconstruct stuff that I chop off.

Where is all the weight coming from Scott? That is about 5000 pounds more than I expected. Besides, axles, tires, and wheels there is not much there.
