Ok after years of procrastinating I am finally installing a Taurus fan in my YJ. It is a 1988 with a 383 engine.
How are you guys making this fit with the water pump pully being right in the way?

I saw one write up where the guy moved the radiator mounting forward to clear it.

Is this the only option?

Just curiuos what other ways of doing this are.

Someone said to put the fan on the grill side of radiator.
But will I need to reverse the blades or something?
It seems that just reversing the motor would not work too good since the blades were designed to pull.

Thanks.

dont need reverse blades if you just run the wires in reverse it will push the air.... on the other note of the fit, assuming you already trimed all the shroud has to give and you dont want to move the radiator forward i guess you could just move the engine back. im thinking it would be easier to just move the radiator tho

I have an AMC 360, not a Chev, but mine fit fine. I just offset the fan motor from the water pump pulley. Its tight (about 1-1.5") but they have never touched.

The Taurus Fan shroud is not as big as a YJ radiator anyway so just push it to one side.

I hacked up one and ran it in front of the radiator. Put some squirell cage wire in front of it to keep the sticks from poking at it. No need to reverse anything. The grill acts like a shroud. Been running it for years now. Works great.

Those pic's were from the install.

This is the best pic I can find from outside.

Followup on the install:
I ended up moving the radiator forward a little, would have like to go more, but it started hitting the power steering line comung out of the steer box. I also had to make a little clearence in the hood, because it was hitting to fill cap.
I also trimmed the fan to make it lower profile. Then I had to turn it upside down, so the motor on the fan would not line up with the water pump. It's a tight fit, I guess I'll find out the hard way whether or not it's too tight.
Thanks for the suggestions.
