The frames are wider on the newer stuff, you will have to line it up and drill new holes, make body mounts or use a 3inch body lift set and cut em to the desired lengths for a level heigth on top of the older trucks body bushings, i did the bed change to a newer stepside on my 83 and it came out real good....someone here changed the cab and used the older stepside bed...

It's possible. But you trade a moderately strong frame for a weaker one, EFI for carb among other things. My buddy's big mud racer is on a '85 K10 frame. Like said, you will have to make some body mounts.

it can be done, but takes a pretty insane amount of body lift( seperation between body and frame) to do it easily There is one here in town, and its hideous.. The z71 will have a stronger frame as well compared to the 78.. If you have no fabricating skills, SAS and body swapping are way out of your league... Sell it all, go but a 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive ratchet and socket set, a full set of combination wrenches from 1/4"-1 1/2", and a Jeep. Then go to Quadratec and order all the cool trail rated bolt on BS and bolt it all on, NO FABRICATION required... :flipoff2:

Compared to the POS here in town, that one is nice silver, did he have to hack into the floorpan or anything, or was the body able to sit down that low on the frame??

He cut the floor out pretty well, it's lucky to have a firewall still. The transmission tunnel is about 5" taller than a factory hump. On that truck, if it wasn't needed he doesn't have it anymore.

I asked the same question a while back. Easier to do, or pay someone to do the SAS. That's my plan now
